McCarthy to Palace looks a done deal 15:28 - Jul 21 with 17825 views | sdm1508 | Seen a picture of him on twitter with Palace Officials at their offices. Shame as I thought he was going to be a good keeper for us. Really thought he should have been number 1 this season

McCarthy to Palace looks a done deal on 10:44 - Jul 24 by Antti_Heinola | But taking into account his salary is pointless. That's us paying him for a service, which he did - a decent back up keeper in the Premier League. That money we paid him is not us losing money, or giving it away, we were getting something for it. It's like saying you hire a decorator to paint your walls. You pay him some money and he does it and you don't go, 'well, I made a loss there' - that's not making a loss, because he's painted your walls. |
Are you really comparing a painter and decorator's salary to a premier leagues goal keeper's wage? He didn't play for us which means that he and the money was wasted, he wasn't some understudy straight out of the youth team. He should have played last season and should have been assisted in establishing himself as our No1 keeper and Green kicked to the curb. It's called forward planning. Now we are stuck with Green and his mistakes, it's beyond me why he was given a 2 year deal. I will be absolutely furious if Green is handed an extension. Make no mistake about it Pardew is no fool and a ruthless operator. McCarthy will be given the chance to be their No1 keeper. Doesn't matter how much of a good servant Speroni has been, he will move aside.

McCarthy to Palace looks a done deal on 09:26 - Jul 24 by CamberleyR | Yeah, nearly a full house in SoG bingo there; salary, silly money, stupid contracts. The only person who has cynicism running through their veins. |
So where do you think the £200m debt has come from?

I've never disputed we are in debt. It's you and your stuck record of endlessly repeating it that gets on mine and lots of other people's tits.

McCarthy to Palace looks a done deal on 12:12 - Aug 11 by simmo | Not sure if anybody noticed but while Green was letting shots in at his near post, McCarthy actually started for Palace on Saturday and by all accounts had a good game... |
Yeah he shouldn't really have conceded Redmond's goal though, luckily they were 2-0 up at the time

He had a good game 'by all accounts' except for the one that I've actually managed to find: http://www.goal.com/en-india/match/norwich-city-vs-crystal-palace/2043046/rating

McCarthy to Palace looks a done deal on 14:18 - Aug 11 with 1464 views | simmo | Apologies, I was basing that on a Palace mate that was at the game, conceded he could have dpne better with the goal but made some really good saves otherwise and was great with the set pieces. Apparently less vocal than Speroni though. It was more a point that he has clearly gone there to be number 1, rather than to sit on the bench as a lot of us thought he would. I still think it's a missed opportunity for us as I think he'd have stayed if we made him number 1 and I don't rate Green as others do

Well Green could have done better with his goal as well, it just seems to me that there's a bit of a 'you are a better keeper if you win the game' mentality here. I'd be surprised if MacCarthy ever ends up being as good as Green but am happy to be proved wrong, but this most definitely isn't the required proof.
