Free Kicks, Corners, (and penalties) 20:46 - Sep 20 with 1536 viewsfamousgrouse

When you are creating so little from open play it is vital that we are able to put opponents under pressure from any "dead Ball" situations. From what I have seen this season we do not have a specialist for the task. Can you remember when we last had appositive shot on target from a corner or free kick? Today Lundstrom had at least 4 free kicks in the attacking quarter and failed to clear the first man on all occasions. He, McMahon and Perkins (occasionally) seem to have taken on the responsibility with little to show for it. Surely this is something which can be improved on the practice ground or can our coach(es) not see this?

I think back to the two corners in the last minute against Blackburn and Watford where Lewis came up for them and both times Lundstram played them on the floor!! Surely it's common sense to stick it in the air! Lundstram seems particularly inept at set pieces which makes it all the more surprising that he seems to take most of them!!

Really good point FG - it is one of our weakest areas at the moment. We took one free kick last week where it stayed in our half and ended up back at the keeper! Compare that to some of the well worked out set pieces other teams take and it is a disappointment. Come on Jose!!

Yeah I remember that Steve. We kept Perkins back to cover the break, but in truth he was probably the only person on the pitch who could have got his head on them - they were so near the ground!

Wonder who would have taken a second pen on Tuesday or what happens if Ranger isn't on the pitch. Seemed to me when we got one last Tuesday that it was first to pick up the ball who git to take the penalty which isn't the way it should be.

Come back David Fox who rarely used to get past his first man but at least he occasionally pinged one in! As much as fans used to berate Tom Ince for his set pieces at least his success ratio was better than Lundstram seems to achieve!
