In trying circumstances Williams is effectively calmly and quietly getting on with his business and is doing a superb job. |

Looking at the current table we are in 12th position. That’s a very good return when we consider where our club is and how it’s currently being run. Manager Luke Williams his staff and players are on balance doing a good job. Defensively we look as solid as we have for a long time. The other team cannot score without the ball. 😃 Wr appreciate the constraints and limitations we have up front but so far we are doing well. I’ll stick with my pre season prediction of 13-16th which will be a respectable decent return. Leeds Sunderland and Burnley look good so far with Sheff Utd in with a chance. |

Very pleased and surprised with the high quality of that performance. For 88 minutes that was excellent against a side with a formidable record at that ground. It’s offered some hope going forward now. Especially as the pressure was on, that was good to watch. 👏🏻 |

The gradually reducing wage bill means one thing. A weakening of the playing resources and less quality in the squad. That’s stating the obvious but that will lead to relegation sooner rather than later unless we can either considerably improve our scouting network and success rate or suddenly we start to produce local talent that’s good enough to go into the first team squad. We do need new owners with ambition and genuine interest in the club. You do feel for the manager and his staff. These are turbulent times and that’s not an exaggeration. |

He’s definitely got something about him. He looked the part when we were a Premier League club when playing for our Under 23s and his scoring record was good. I seem to recall he scored all four in our 4-0 win at Everton. He does need to be playing alongside someone ideally but modern football formations rarely will see two out and out strikers starting together. The next two or three seasons are crucial for him as he still has time on his side to improve with more experience. He started the season well with two in our first four or five games but it’s a difficult time for the Club and there’s a lot of pressure on him at present. Our worst ever record is six games without scoring and he is carrying that burden of responsibility. He’s still forced his way into the Wales set up so well done to him and best of luck. |

Yes of course that one season with Laudrup was very special with Michu De Guzman Rangel Dyer Routledge Williams et al but we were a mid table team. In 1981/2 we were closer to winning the league than we realised at the time. Top in March. |
| Forum Reply | Ten Haag at 16:50 28 Oct 2024
Yes I would because if we had world class players they’d be getting paid upwards of £10m a year and that’s obscene On 1981/82 our club topped the First division at a time when players were earning less than £1000 a week. Still good money as £25,000 would buy you a nice house. They were different times of course and well before Sky Sports became involved. Those were the very best days to follow Swansea City. |

Ten Haag is reported to be awaiting an astronomical £17m settlement from Man Utd after being sacked earlier. That’s a frighteningly huge sum of money. Is the Premier League losing some of its appeal to the ordinary football fan? How can managers and players especially get contracts worth £300,000 and more for a weeks work? It’s not work is it but you get the gist. It’s a crazy situation. I’ve loved football all of my life but I’m falling out of love with it. |
| Forum Reply | Reach & Christie at 17:57 24 Oct 2024
I’d disagree with that. Reach is an upgrade on Tymon who is also a decent left back. But that apart you need competition for places with depth to the squad. To cover injury and suspension too. That brings out the best in players. Our squad is a bit lightweight in terms of cover and competition. Of course we need a proven forward we know that but we need players like Reach. Sounds like we couldn’t agree terms. That’s concerning as I doubt he’d want too much. Same for Christie. Two good players. |
| Forum Reply | The next Wayne Routledge. Is there anyone like this? at 15:21 22 Oct 2024
Wayne was an outstanding winger at Swansea where had the best time of his career. Unorthodox in some ways especially with his preferred delivery style of the outside of his right foot and he scored at Villa in our first away win in the Premier league. It was on New Year’s Day I was at the game. Brendan Rodgers was our manager then. Brendan liked him and rightly so as both him and Dyer were integral to our success then. Of course later Laudrup also recognised Wayne’s quality and unpredictable style. He was quick and direct I recall Him giving our left back I think it was Bessone a hard game at the Liberty when he played for Cardiff. We aren’t producing the talent locally sadly. I’m not sure why but forwards particularly are in short supply. |
| Forum Reply | Luke Williams ? at 20:32 21 Oct 2024
Luke Williams is doing well. There’s no doubt about that given the current situation at our club. He knows where we need to strengthen but our club hierarchy seem unprepared to pay the going rate. Or can’t afford to and that’s a concern. I’m hoping that we can finish the season around where we are now which will be a very respectable return. As for our previous managers including Steve Cooper and Russell Martin, they both did well with some restrictions in place too albeit we had stringer squads then than we do now. If Luke gets support from the owners we will see progress. Defensively we are very strong. The team set up is excellent . Last Saturday I think we limited the home side to only seven goal attempts over the 90 minutes . Thst says a lot. We know we need more going forward but are those players within our current budget…. |
| Forum Reply | Vipupnik at 21:16 20 Oct 2024
Vipotnik is not good enough. That much is very clear. Do we know how he ended up here? What’s the back ground? I like Luke Williams, he’s doing well under trying difficult circumstances. |
| Forum Reply | Reach & Christie at 23:03 17 Oct 2024
Two very good experienced Championship players who will improve our squad strength and depth. Good signings if we can agree terms. |
| Forum Reply | Greece win away at 08:22 11 Oct 2024
It reminded me an international match at the Vetch around 40 years ago when Wales played Iceland? with a lop sided ream packed with forwards which was imbalanced. England over loaded their midfield although didn’t play with an out an out number nine. It was a classic case of a coach trying to be too clever for his own good and for the good of the team and it failed miserably. The game is taking a new dimension in terms of the coaches trying to out do each other. Football in essence remains a simple game. It’s being over complicated and that was a classic example. Greece on the other hand were excellent. A good old fashioned performance. Defend as though your life depends on it and attack quickly and in numbers when you get the chance . Rocket science it certainly is not. |
| Forum Reply | A timely gathering at 17:44 8 Oct 2024
It will happen. Eventually. Whether we like it or want it or not. It’s an attractive proposition in many ways. Welsh derby matches every week. Swansea v Cardiff or Wrexham with a Champions League place at stake is big bucks and high stakes stuff. I’m personally unconvinced but it’s going to happen. |
| Forum Reply | Lawrence Vigouroux at 08:58 8 Oct 2024
He’s done well so far but it’s only nine games. Let’s hope he can keep it up. He’s been at Leyton Orient and Swindon. This is a step up for him and so far he’s responded superbly but talk of a contract extension at this point is laughable. |
| Forum Reply | Grimes and Fulton at 21:09 3 Oct 2024
Yes of course he should have scored. He didn’t. That’s football for you. The own goal was horrific. At this level of football. Tymon is good enough to put that behind him. You can see where our real weakness is. Elsewhere we look solid. I’m expecting a 13-16th place finish which is par for us presently. |
| Forum Reply | Grimes and Fulton at 20:36 3 Oct 2024
Grimes had a good game at Sheffield. He’s usually one of our best and most consistent players. Fulton was decent too. Look no further than Tymon as the reason we lost last night. That was shocking from him and then he almost conceded a second. It was fortunately out of character for him as overall he’s done well for us. We do seem to be lacking a cutting edge. Quality forwards are hard to come by especially when your club don’t want to spend the money … |
