I didn't go last night but I find it hard to believe that people are surprised by the amount of police there or that there was trouble. I've been to many QPR/Luton matches at both grounds from the late 70s onwards and there has always been a fierce Derby like rivalry and quite often serious violence as well. On my 1st visit there I was on a supporters club coach with the legendary Daphne Biggs and we got bricked travelling in and then QPR fans went on the rampage afterwards...Luton fans were lobbing bricks into the away end throughout the game. In the late 80s there was a near riot at St Pancras between the 2 sets of fans. And basically it has carried on to the present day. The problem now is that this will get 10 times worse and when QPR go to Kenilworth Rd every Luton hooligan past and present will be out for revenge. |

Ha ha yes I remember that well; was living down the rd in Elephant & Castle at the time & was on a bus going down the Old Kent Rd full of pissed up Millwall fans all well up for a row. I think we were 2 up from the 1st leg and I was pretty confident we would go through so in the event I bottled it and watched the game from the hill behind the away end with some Millwall as I didn't fancy our chances getting out in one piece! Crazy happy days ..like I say above the Old Den was a completely different ball game altogether. |

Totally agree with the OP last season's turn out was derisory but it was a night game & we were playing dreadfully but given that we are 3 points off top and it's a Saturday there is really no excuse. Many of those not going will no doubt moan about not being able to get a Brentford ticket too! As someone else said the Old Den really was a tricky proposition whereas the only real issue with the New Den is putting up with being kept in and getting pushed about by the Police maybe. Maybe it's being old school but I try never to miss a London Derby if I can help it. |

Still getting my head around it today..first half we played some of the best attacking creative football I have seen in years and then one mistake & by the time Luton got that injury time free kick & my nerves were in shreds.
One thing that stood out for me though in both those very different halves were how committed all our players were. As a fan I can't ask anymore than that. Ironically I gave up my season ticket after nearly 20 years but am now keener to go to games than ever.
Yes I was cursing Lumley but the manager was completely right to back him & so should we. How many of us would have thought that this young newly assembled team would be 3 points off top after 7 games? More to the point I am seeing a passion and togetherness I have not seen since that Warnock team. I like the manager's use of subs too; though yesterday I disagreed with 2 of them & would have left Chair & Wells, 2 of our more skillful & creative players, on the pitch. What it showed though is that the manager is prepared to show confidence & belief in his squad. He has stuck with Barbet too who saved us with that tackle yesterday as did Amos late on.
Hopefully some specific intensive training should be able to improve Lumley's ball playing & distribution. Think Hugill could maybe do with some work as well to stop him smashing the ball over it's all about technique & maybe a bit of composure which is easily corrected.
All in all though there is so much to love about this team ...let's get behind them especially if and when they go through a bad run which we probably will at some stage. Can't wait for Millwall now! |

Always been Liverpool, I'd even want Chelsea to win against them. Still hurts to think they pipped us to the 1st Division title all that time ago. We will never be in that position again |

You are right we could all accept this if the club were consistent but then they do things like suddenly change the manager and bring in massively expensive loan signings and blow the whole strategy out of the water. |

Yes they did and I have very happy memories of standing in the middle of the old Shed enjoying watching Chelsea being relegated. After the game the Chelsea fans rioted inside and outside the ground and I think as a result of this they stopped the relegation component to the play offs also back then the playoffs didn't have finals they were just based on two leg matches |

I am quietly encouraged by this. It's a good sign that the club have started to talk about this in a conciliatory way rather than the 'Car Giant 'approach. I think 30,000 is about right in terms of giving us a reasonable chance to grow our support . I think with competitive pricing this could work. Also before this is achieved we could possibly offer away clubs bigger allocations than is standard a bit like Blackburn do sometimes.
I particularly like the fact that they are talking about steep banks and a design that hold the noise well. It will be interesting to see how the council respond. |

I am expanding on the original post and saying that imo all prices are now way to high, given the state of the team and the fact that it is likely to be worse next year. I think this should be of massive concern to all of us and yes I think Hoos should be held responsible along with others and should have some plan to address it. We have been in steady decline for some time now ...you only need to look around you at all the empty seats to see that there is a real problem . People are also stopping traveling away and these are our die hard fans ..just look at our support at Millwall one of our only 2 London derbies it was pitiful..so yes I make no apology for my 'rant ' ..I like many others have had enough and think we need much cheaper pricing across the board to win the fans back |

Lee Hoos can do one...after 15 years + as a Season ticket holder along with my son i am having a break ...whilst Hoos is out meeting the fans and selling the new stadium bollocks he should instead be acknowledging the fact that our support is haemorraging both home and away but judging by other comments here that is of no concern to him.
No longer can we claim to have a 'cracking ' atmosphere at Loftus Rd; those days are long gone. I will always be a QPR fan but until the owners of our club start talking straight about the God almighty mess we are in and start showing some appreciation of longstanding fans by reducing prices then I will find other things to do on most Saturdays . |

Hey fair enough I was more making the point about our Home support and yes Millwall were playing so poorly the other night I was honestly surprised that the home support didn't turn on them wholesale which got me round to thinking about us at home especially.
Not sure if we will ever get rid of it at our place seems sadly part of our culture where as others have pointed out even decent players can get it. I've even heard the likes of Martin Rowlands and Lee Cook getting called all sorts in my time.
Sometimes we like to build players up just to turn on them when their form drops...a good example this year would be Eze who has gone from hero to zero in a matter of weeks. |

I know that rightly or wrongly their fan base rarely gets a good mention but one thing I've noticed after many trips over the years to both the old and new Den is that their supporters never seem to get on the backs of their own team however badly they are playing.
Going into half time this week and with Rotheram winning they were in the 3rd bottom place and their players were making numerous mistakes. If this was us at Loftus Rd a big minority of the crowd would have been on player's backs and there would have been loud moans and worse every time there was a misplaced pass or an attack broke down. Not only this but individual players would be getting dogs abuse as our fan base always likes to have a couple of favourite players who we can reserve for extra vitriol..this has been the case as long as I can remember (Mick Leach in the 70s ..Simon Barker in the 80s, Santos in the 90s ) and many many more.
I know that we are playing badly but it is so counter - productive to slate your own team to the extent we do during matches. I'm not saying that we shouldn't moan or complain about problems on and off the pitch, I do so regularly myself, but abusing your own players during a match is not the place. Just looked on the official Website and it says that we have only sold around 900 tickets ...that is embarrassing ..their fans will rightly slaughter us if that is the case. Never known us to take that few to Millwall ..but another sign of how fed up our fan base is |

Yes me too I sit in R block and am not able to carry on paying that amount to watch guaranteed relegation football. Am just planning to go to the odd game now. But that was my point there is only 1 block of those cheap tickets at present and they are completely sold out..they need to expand that scheme otherwise they will be playing to a half empty quiet ground next seasin |

You are spot on! At the moment our support is haemorraging at an alarming rate and the atmosphere is abysmal. Each season our board try to play the 'new manager trick ' telling us that we are making progress etc just need someone to take us to the next level but this is nonsense everyone can see we are falling like a stone. Still listen to our owners and you would believe we need a massive new ground to fit all our new supporters in.
Last time I can remember an atmosphere as bad as this was back in the Stuart Housten days when we were indeed on the way down to League 1. Fortunately the club responded by massively reducing the Season ticket prices all around the ground ..I think they were £180 ..the result; a ground that was full every week in the home areas, even when we played Hartlepool on a Wednesday night and all 3 sides of the ground singing. What followed was a kind of rebirth for the club with a trip to Cardiff following one of the best night's ever when we beat Oldham! And then going up at Hillsborough the following year..
Right now the club need to realise how bad the situation is; I can accept that we are going to struggle for a few seasons but I'm no longer prepared to pay top dollar to watch it. The club should massively expand the reduced price 'blue' areas of the ground and help to win back and renew our disappearing fan base ..rather than continuing to mug us all off. |

One thing that does stand out and I suspect most of us may agree on this is how much superior our scouting and recruitment was back then compared to now!
To list a few: Les Ferdinand from Hayes, Impey -Yeading, Paul Parker from Fulham (then a 3rd division team) Sinton and Rowlands -Brentford, Stainrod- Oldham, Johnny Byrne -York City, Peacock-grimsby Town, Trevor Sinclair- Blackpool , and many many more..why on earth did we stop doing this? Our Scouting system now appears to be a complete shambles |

No it didn't end well; as another poster said the rot set in when Gregory sold the club and the Thompson's carried on with the job. Once Les Ferdinand was sold apparently against his will then the message was loud and clear that we had no ambition and of course others followed. Oh and we reinvested in who exactly? Ned Zelic and Mark Hateley who do remind me scored how many goals? Do me a favour xx |

What absolute bollox they did nothing for our club whatsoever apart from dismantling a team that had been doing consistently well. They inherited the club as a debt owed by Bulstrode and they were totally indifferent to our fans and our history ...thankfully most of our supporters at the time saw through them though and stood shoulder to shoulder to force them out |
