Funny the games you remember. I can still picture the Webber handball. I lost my keys in the celebration. The Man U game was such a disappointment - a complete no show. |

Smith's back to game hold up play isn't very good. Hark back to the days of Furlong, upper body strength, arms everywhere, controlling it on his chest, holding onto it and laying it off. The midfield have the time to get up and support him. Smith doesn't do that, it's a head on from admittedly pretty rubbish service. Washington's either miles away or doesn't read it so the ball just comes straight back. The midfield are just running up and down the pitch. It worked better the other night against Brighton when Sylla came on and played beyond Smith so the knock ons went straight onto him. As it stands we're probably quite easy to defend against. |
| News Comment | QPR's second half rally can't prevent predictable outcome - Report at 15:23:16
Both Ramsey and JFH made efforts to play entertaining football but frequently lost and ended up playing safe, boring, narrow football. It was entertaining yesterday but all a bit ramshackle and we could easily have got another hammering. I suppose Holloway is looking for his best side but if he's not careful he'll end up doing it in Div 1. |
| News Comment | A familiar Christmas tale of woe for QPR at Brighton - Report at 16:27:40
Was there 600 empty away seats? Couldn't see as was at the game. I think they announced at the last home game on the tannoy they'd sold 1600 tickets so assumed they'd sent the others back for home resale. It was Brighton's biggest attendance of the season. |
| News Comment | A familiar Christmas tale of woe for QPR at Brighton - Report at 15:08:10
Brighton were more clued up in movement and thinking. In the first half Perch went up the wing on a bit of a goose chase, I think it was Baldock who just walked 5 yards to his right into the space left behind and stood here. He just knew that the ball was coming to him and it duly did and off he went with anyone anywhere near him. |
| News Comment | Leadbitter’s late penalty sinks battling R’s - Report at 08:21:01
Difficult watching Faurlin desperately trying to get to the ball and diving in to compensate. It's a sign you're struggling. He's never been the quickest but since the injuries seems more flated footed than ever. You can't have two players (him and Sandro) at this level of football with such injury and fitness issues. |
| News Comment | Green’s latest meltdown costs QPR dearly - report at 16:25:07
Good write up. On Smithies, I agree it's a different kettle of fish for him and not the ideal way to make your debut but he's 25 years old and played 250 games mostly in the championship. |
| News Comment | QPR's work in progress gets harsh lesson in Championship realities - report at 06:43:58
We looked tidy and nice. I can't think of too many sides who have been successful in the championship being tidy and nice. Fulham under Tigana, Swansea maybe. Many have tried and failed - Doncaster spring to mind, Scunthorpe. Most are solid, a bit ugly and direct. Good luck to Ramsey, he's going to need it. By the end of the game I was bored. Seen it all before. Little excitement, little entertainment. Like most of the side, I'd given up. The beer in the sunshine by the Thames was great. |
| News Comment | The Mack is back, righting a wrong of the recent past — signing at 05:37:41
Not sure he'll be able to play the game like he used to. Even he makes a reference to being 5 years older. Week in week out to play like that will be a challenge for a 29 year old so it will be interesting to see if his game changes. |
| News Comment | Austin’s penalty miss proves crucial in Hammers stalemate — report at 07:43:33
With Phillips nullified we had no outlet. No pace. Plenty of huff and puff. Really should have given AT a go. On a sidenote I've a mate who runs an U21 side Rymans Level. Done plenty of coaching before but wanted a go at management. He said he was surpised how difficult it was to make a decision during a game when the pressure was on. Having said that don't think CR is the man to take us forward. |
| News Comment | Leicester visit begins QPR’s crunch month — preview at 11:32:32
Just off to buy my Swansea ticket. First away of the season. I'm sure the bloke behind the counter will be looking at me thinking "what a mug". What I won't be doing this season is going to watch a Harry FA Cup 3rd round home tie. |
| News Comment | Jan Stejskal’s last-second penalty save — history at 06:49:54
I can still remember sitting behind the goal at the Baseball Ground for that Xmas game and looking at Peacock and his hair, thinking what on earth is that? Pre internet and such different times. I'd never heard of him or Andy Tilson. Seemed more enjoyable then though I'm sure it probably wasn't it! |
| News Comment | High-flying Saints latest hurdle for travel-sick Rangers — preview at 09:43:05
Away games were like this last season, only this season the opposition are better. I remember walking away from Yeovil, not chuffed with the 1-0 win but mystified that our only shot on goal was the penalty. Football played at a walking pace. |
| News Comment | Excitement — preview at 09:40:42
I just think HR is a bit knackered and weary. From the list I saw he's the oldest manager in the football league (though Wenger is not far behind as the 2nd oldest). At the end of last season he was bemoaning having to deal with all the rubbish like players not turning up, turning up late, etc. He's probably happy because he can see the end's in sight. Maybe he should get a shooting stick and stick it in the technical area. |
| News Comment | Eat, sleep, rave, repeat — report at 11:04:09
They were either going through the motions or just a tired side. A number of times you see the other sides midfield coming forward with Barton and Carroll trailing behind them. Morrison's obviously talented but is he given a free role? He seems to pop up everywhere. I'm not sure what that was on Saturday. Just seemed to be all over the place and their goal was the icing on the cake. 4-2-3-1 seems very complicated to me and something that would have to be practised over and over on the training pitch. |
| News Comment | Unlikely heroes to the fore in five-star QPR victory — report at 06:35:13
Not convinced myself. The 3 late goals covered up what I thought was a lethargic display. Good display by YB and nice to see 5 goals. We'll always be in with a good shout whoever we play at home, It's the away form that's the real problem where there seems to be a lack of backbone. |
