I too watched Bradford v Morecambe Wish I had chosen Swindon v Tranmere. Tranmere led until the final minutes. Good news for us, two key Tranmere defenders sent off (so not available on Saturday) as they fall to a demoralising 3-1 defeat. Harrogate also hit with sucker punches in added time. Carlisle lose, Accrington draw, a good night for Col Utd despite not playing. |

I think Macey has been our best keeper for some years, if we ignore the madness at Cheltenham. Every keeper has a mistake in them. Let’s hope he has had his quota. Just a heads up from club website about Port Vale…. Please note, following damage to Turnstiles 15 and 16, they will be closed for today's game. All supporters will be using Turnstiles 17 and 18 in the South Stand, please get to the ground early to avoid delays. I wonder who’s stuck in them……..? [Post edited 27 Jan 20:15]

Just watched the Morecambe full match replay noting DC’s complaints about the pitch. The drainage might have improved, but it looks shocking, notably in front of the West Stand. When originally laid about 17 years ago, I recall the hype about integrated chopped rubber bands making the bounce consistent and new grass technologies. It was pristine until the long time groundsman from Layer Road (Dave) left to become a Tesco delivery driver. I’m not convinced it ever recovered from the music concerts and the experiments with contract ground staff. According to DC, the new groundsman is apparently working like a Trojan trying to find a remedy, but Winter isn’t the time for positive results. OK, it’s the same for both teams, but I reckon it currently benefits thugs and hoofball, not the style of football DC wants to play or we want to watch. Even clubs that share with Rugby have better surfaces. It’s sad we are blighted by this. |

Agree with MarkyMark47. In the first half we struggled to break down an eight man defence that was time wasting from the off and content with a draw (or a snatched 0-1 win). It got tougher after the sending off as it then became a nine man defence. Newcomer Simpson offered little and soon had me thinking bring back Hopper and Jay! Things changed with the introduction of Taylor and Thorn. But we still lack quality in the opposition box. If Tovide does depart, another reinforcement is desirable up front. However, three points was welcome, but I didn’t jog home with the usual spring in my step after a win. Frankly, I felt weary and a tad frustrated. |

I suspect it is a clearway or at least double yellows, except at designated bus stops. What is extra frustrating is that our disabled fans had to walk to the second regular bus stop from the ground’s exit. Why was the bus prevented from stopping at the first available? There is also no wheelchair provision in the away end. It is in the home end, where away fans are “requested to not wear colours”. At Port Vale, we parked at the bottom of a muddy steep hill, lit only by stewards having hand held torches. In previous years, we parked in the main car park. The EFL needs to investigate and dump non-EDI compliant clubs from the league. |

I believe Lyle Taylor may have paid for the taxi from bus to stadium. But our courageous disabled trio walked back, one on two crutches, one with a stick, one breathless (heart issues). These guys are tough, inspirational and work (or worked) damn hard for a living. Frankly, their treatment was outrageous. The bus restriction was known in advance, and apparently there was even a suggestion made that one should not travel, which made him all the more determined. It was similar at Port Vale. What do these clubs not get about disability discrimination? |

Positive mood on CUSA bus. However, it seems that we are not allowed to disembark outside of the ground and must do so at a hotel some ten minutes walk away. A taxi has hence had to be arranged for our one disabled and two less able fans that can’t be expected to walk this distance. This is outrageous in the modern paradigm of equality and avoidance of disability discrimination. |

At least as bad as Wrexham. Harrogate equally unfriendly and silly prices for food (£9 for a meat pie?). Only redemption is pub opposite where the CUSA bus parks does a decent Black Sheep IPA. We hence need to stay on bus until it is parked up to avoid a half mile walk to pub. Then only a walk back. See you Tuesday Durham. |

Not a ramshackle ground? The away end is a disgrace! Remember, we had a full capacity 499 U’s fans and in our area…. 1. Only one female toilet. 2. Only four male (individual) urinals. 3. Three staff to serve 499 persons - massive queues - many of us needed catering facilities. 4. Away fans refused entry to the better facilities. 5. Cramped seating in a temporary marquee like stand. 6. Obscured views due to uprights supporting canvas roof. 7. Ticketing chaos - many seat numbers didn’t exist for issued tickets. 8. No cover or seating for a majority of U’s fans. 9. Boggy, waterlogged car park. 10. Less refined than Layer Road! 11. Barrow similar, but at least we were welcome in the home clubhouse. The EFL should demand better standards BEFORE admittance to Division Two. |

Samson Tovide sat in the stand with us today. Looks like it may be another two weeks before his return to fitness. As regards speculation about his future, his comment was “I know no more than you do”. There is evidently interest in him, but maybe not at our valuation? |

I’d say easily 150 to 200. A great effort by those not in the CUSA bus. We got home circa 01-00, so the 19-00 kick off offered benefits, notwithstanding that we “lost” three fans for about 15 minutes that initially couldn’t find their way back to the bus. The game itself; frankly, kamikaze errors by the better team has cost the club over £40,000 in lost prize-money. I never expected us to get to Wembley with teams like Birmingham in our way, but I did hope for a confidence boosting money spinning run. Poor Matt Macey had a mare. Shi5 happens. Now on to a sell out Bromley…. |

30 loyal souls on the CUSA bus got an unexpected bonus at Oxford (A40 services). We ran into former U’s goalkeeper, Shamal George, now with Wycombe. Sadly, on crutches for eight weeks due to injury. With Bloomfield going to Luton, Wycombe dressing room expecting change. He loved his time at Col U and was as delighted as we to share pleasant conversation. Nice lad, head in the clouds…..literally!
