| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 19:22:54 @MelakaRanger - I was upset before but now I am really sad. That's a really good point, those 8 points better off would have given so much confidence and also made all the teams around us start to panic. I know I shouldn't, but as soon as we scored I had to put a bet on Wigan equalising. So at least I won £50, which might just pay for a ticket in the championship. Also, why is it that almost every loan player we get seems to play with more heart than our actual contracted players. Townsend and Walker (when he was on loan to us). Such a shame we couldn't sign either of them. Look at Walker now!! |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 17:44:43 It's over now, especially with Southampton beating Liverpool. Who was that QPR player who had the last shot of the game and blasted it over?! He had the chance of a lifetime to become a hero and the time to place that. Sidefoot it! don't punt it!! |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 20:02:28 Well that was lucky. Honestly, we didn't deserve to win that but then there are games we have deserved to win and came away with nothing. That's football I guess. Maybe our luck is changing. The QPR players are getting my underwear bill, those last 10mins (actually 16mins!! because of the ridiculous amount of injury time) were torture. Still a few moments of complete disbelief; I think Clive has mentioned this before in one of his analysis's (SP); we can't keep the ball for more than 2 touch's when we win a throw in. In fact we couldn't keep the ball at all, terrible passing by some, but then great passing by others particularly the assist from Hoilett. Anyway, I can finally go into work Monday with a smile on my face. Come on you R's!! |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 14:16:14 To be honest it was over last week, we had to win the Norwich game. It doesn't help that all the other teams are playing well; or it's just us playing s***. Southampton, Reading etc all getting surprise wins and draws; they seem to play their oppositions on an off day ie like Southampton yesterday, Man City were poor but then Southampton are playing well. When any of those teams play us they are on form (or we just make them look good). I just hope Wigan and Aston Villa get relegated too, mainly because the Wigan stadium is never 50% full when watching it on the telly, not exactly a great look for English football and Aston Villa because they are so dull. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 17:11:56 Townsend impressed me, I don't know much about him but he played well. But here we go again, draw and yet all the teams around are us equaling or getting better results; either we are unlucky that they are beating teams that they shouldn't be (ie Reading beating Sunderland, Newcastle beating Chelsea, Aston Villa almost beating Everton) or they just want it more than our players. So here we are again 7 points from safety (as Reading have better goal difference) exactly what we were about 2 months ago if I remember correctly. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 09:59:53 I wish I put more money on them to lose, still I won about £18. @Dennick - that's if we stay up. We might have to stick with some of them because if we don't stay up we will definitely lose some of out better players. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 19:20:17 Before the results today, we were 6points off safety. Now with the draw today and Reading winning (again, 2 in a row for them now). And Aston Villa (winning at the time of typing this) we are 7points off safety. We NEED to win these games. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 19:00:20 Almost... watched the 1st half, missed Mackie's goal and started watching... then realised it might be best if I didn't watch in case I am some sort of unlucky charm... Still we lost... at least I know I'm not unlucky and I can watch them on Tuesday. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 17:58:16 WTF was that!? All this talk about "must win game" and we looked worse than ever, I would love to know what pregame talk MH gave... MH can't be blamed for all of this, the players have to take responsibility too. That's twice I have heard commentators say "why do teams play zonal marking, it doesn't work", and they are right.. Reading won too, at this rate we might be relegated before February, at least we will break a record for the quickest team to get relegated from the premier league. I was going to buy my dad a ticket for Christmas, but now that just seems mean; I'll just give him the money and he can get that black and decker drill instead. Pathetic. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 16:14:32 Same old story. We are not taking our chances. Saw Swansea's highlights last night, Nathan Dyer had one chance and took it. We are not taking ours, either poor decision making or just terrible shooting/ball control. Also there were a few times when a QPR player would run at Stoke defence and no other players would support him. Just all stand there ball watching. MH did nothing wrong as far as I can see, picked the right team, right tactics. Everything was going well, just one poor mistake and Stoke take there chance and we didn't take ours. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 20:05:59 I'll just add on "Like others have said, why not play Granero, Faurlin and Diakite in midfield, Hoilett and Taarabt on wide areas and Cisse up front (not keen on Zamora - doesn't score enough goals), or even mackie up front, he is a striker after all and can finish chances, the amount of times he has come off the bench and scored for us. The great header against City last season. Don't care who he puts in defence (wouldn't matter anyway; can't defend to save their lives)." I can't see how this could fail - with the team in possession Granero can gradually move forward into an attacking midfield (shooting from outside the box or putting through some great through balls to cisse with his pace he can get on the end of them), taarabt and hoilett on wide areas whipping in crosses or sometimes cutting inside and shooting from outside the box which they can both do. if we get caught on the counter our full backs can try to slow the counter down and/or either diakite or faurlin to come in to help while the other one stays in central position. hopefully hoilett or taarabt can get back by then. we also have great counter options ourselves with the pace of hoilett |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 19:55:47 Completely agree with Kaos agent, not taking our opportunities will cost us by Feb/Mar when we are still in relegation zone and the games are running out. Although credit to their goalie, we would have won if it weren't for him. I don't think we are getting much luck at the moment either, seeing Mackie get completely man handled in the penalty area or a few players from the opposition who put in great performances. I bet the Reading Goalie doesn't put a performance like that next week. That safety margin is getting further and further away. Fernandes won't get rid of Hughes, he was the guy he brought in and won't admit he chose the wrong guy. Like others have said, why not play Granero, Faurlin and Diakite in midfield, Hoilett and Taarabt on wide areas and Cisse up front (not keen on Zamora - doesn't score enough goals), or even mackie up front, he is a striker after all and can finish chances, the amount of times he has come off the bench and scored for us. The great header against City last season. Don't care who he puts in defence (wouldn't matter anyway; can't defend to save their lives). |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 09:33:05 I agree with QPRNZ. Finally we have a midfield, great passing and more importantly all tackling and winning the ball back on occasions. Can't leave all the defending for the last 4. Shame that our forwards aren't getting shots off, and that showed yesterday when Hoilett had a lifetime to get a shot off and then Vertonghen making a superb tackle. Man of the match for me has to be Clint Hill, he made more saves than Cesar! Faurlin would have got man of the match but even though own goals tend to be unfortunate he turned his back to the ball and could have possibly been avoided. They all played brilliantly, shame we got nothing from it. What's happened to Cisse? he was scoring almost a goal a game and now he is a sub. Zamora is great but has no pace, more of a holding player or great player to give assists. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 18:46:16 Traore was most to blame for that goal. He just stood there and then when he did move he was 3 steps behind Jackson. Although our whole defence is still poor, by the end of the September we will be bottom of the league with a tragic goal difference if some players don't step up; and manager/coaching staff. We have games against Man City, Chelsea and Tottenham. I honestly thought with all the attacking players we have, we would at least be scoring goals. Matches should be ending 3-3 well that's what I predicted for the first 2 games. Any news on Faurlin? Last I heard he was getting fit; I take it just not match fit? The only positives from the two games has been Hoilett and Mackie. Cisse I thought would have scored by now. Park and Diakite have been ok. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 21:21:29 Wow, can't believe it. Amazing that we defended so well and to be leading 2-1, I believe the same when we played Man City at home and if I remember correctly they got 2 late goals that day too. We deserved to get something out of both City games as they all played great. I don't even know what happened with JB, Tevez just fell over from what I could see (not seen any highlights so will watch MOTD tonight and watch in more detail there). Hardly worth a red though, but that is our luck though. He was wrong to act up like he usually does after he got the red though. Both great goals from Cisse and Mackie, we weren't going to get many chances at Etihad and they took the chances well. Anyone seen Tony Fernandes' interview on BBC, what announcement is he going to give? hopefully new training ground? and then we can finally work on that damn passing!! new stadium plans? Not sure how many away fans went, but well done to them, could hear them chanting. Thanks LFW for great articles. Looking forward to summer and next season. Get rid of the deadwood and welcome back Faurlin and hopefully some new faces. Diakite needs to be signed. Cmon you R's. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 20:28:19 Me and dad screamed our heads off when Cisse scored, and then I said "all we need now is West Brom to equalise", then the next thing we heard on the radio was "West Brom 2-Bolton 2". Dad was to busy chewing nails to hear it. However, that 1 point could still save Bolton. All they need is a win and we are doomed; I can't see us winning away to Man City with them chasing the title that they haven't won for nearly 40 odd years. Draw and I think we are safe but doubtful we will get that either. We just hope Crouch and Stoke do us a favour and beat Bolton; although even that is going to be difficult. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 17:59:48 " Given the Arsenal game I would go all defense!" no way, the way our defense is playing we will be lucky to survive 10mins. Arsenal have to much pace; Persie, Walcot etc will be easily getting behind our back 4 (if you can call them that; Sunderland's 3rd goal only Anton seemed to be in the 10yard box). Mackie to start up front with Zamora (mackie is a striker not a midfielder, and has similar pace to cisse so should link up well with Zamora's heading on ability, strength and holding up skills). Hopefully Barton can play better now in midfield, with Buszaky, tarrabt and diakite. Back 4, I don't think it matters. They are all useless at the moment. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 00:17:36 We were so lucky in that win. Our defending was terrible as usual, especially the second goal Liverpool scored (or the action leading up to there second goal), 3 players stood there and let the player cut inside. At least Kenny was better. Barton and SWP need to be on the bench, maybe they are tired I don't know. But they are not performing to their ability. C'mon you R's. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 23:07:04 :'( Finally we look like we are capable of scoring, but then our defence disappears. Maybe next weeks formation should be 1-2-4-3. Have Clint Hill on the line blocking shots because I can assure you he will give 110% to keep that ball out. Derry Diakite just a couple yards in front of Hill constantly side stepping in front of the goal to block shots like some players on table football game. barton, buzsaky, tarrabt (if fit), traore (or Smith). zamora, cisse and mackie up front... and just hope we score more goals than the opposition. |
