So sad for all involved, almost especially the train driver. Not something he/she would ever get over I would imagine... |

Whilst I broadly agree with what you are saying the line when, '"most people get to a stage in their lives where no one is able to force them to believe and do anything" it is sometimes/often not that easy to escape from what they have been brainwashed/indoctrinated with every day of their lives up until that point. I should know because having been brought up in that situation when I reached the age of 17 I ran away from home (in 1984...) not because I suddenly decided not to believe what I had been force-fed with for 17 years, but because I wanted to have a foray into the big wide world (football, girls, travel, alcohol etc) before returning to the fold and settling down. I was very lucky really because once 'out' it slowly dawned on me that it maybe wasn't actually the only 'right' place to be in the whole wide world, but actually a highly controlled, oppressive and misogynistic environment where money was really the true God. Most believers of that particular 'religion' do not make the same choice that I made and once married with kids etc it is a lot harder choice to make. All my family/relatives are still 'in' which is maybe not a bad thing because I am not sure how they would cope out here in the real world, especially if they chose to follow my lead in choice of football club.... |

This morning I happened to notice that the ULEZ camera on Strand-on the Green Chiswick, W4. at the junction with Spring Grove has had it's wire cut...... What a shame... [Post edited 15 Aug 2023 14:10]

One thing that I don't quite understand is GA, in his after match interview, said something along the lines of 'We could see that our tactics were not working so we changed a few things at half time'....... Well I could see that after about, what, one minute?.... Why wait until half time? Why not after the second goal went in for example?... Over the years I have seen many a manager make a substitution during the first half and/or change the shape of the team.... |

And from from a business point of view, if he is indeed opening a soccer school in Chiswick, what better sales spiel than saying that I have got an 'in' at one of the most local professional football clubs, the mighty Queens Park Rangers..... |

An Irishman walks up to a bar and orders 10 beers.. 'Do you want a tray with that mate?' says the barman. 'Feck off' says the Irishman, 'I've got enough to carry with all this beer'... |

An expert biologist from the Natural History passes a record shop and is surprised to see an LP in the window with a picture of wasps on the cover. He is a wasp specialist so can't help himself but go in and enquire what the record is all about. The man in the shop says the LP consists of field recordings of rare species of wasps in the wild. Enthralled by this he asks to hear it. But after a few minutes of skipping through the grooves he turns to the shopkeeper and says he is sure that the noises on the record are not wasps. The shopkeeper comes over, looks at the disc and says... 'Oh yeh, sorry mate, that's the B-side....' [Post edited 15 Apr 2023 4:46]

I notice that our old friend from Feltham Steven Caulker has just signed for Wigan. It seems a very long time ago that he was with us earning more in a week than most earn in a year. What a signing he turned out to be.... |

Tony Scully... Super fast but so frustrating as his end product was virtually nil... Last heard of as being a postie in Cambridge. I can imagine that he is super fast on his round but firing the letters into the wrong houses, if he actually takes them with him in the first place... |
