 | Forum Reply | Ronnie Edwards - praise to the club when it’s due at 12:23 19 Apr 2025
I would play Edwards the last 3 games. He is not blocking one of our own upcoming players at the moment who can step in an perform at this level. Clearly Morrison is growing as a player next to Ronnie also, so give them the last few games together. Maybe we can convince Southampton to lend him to us for another season. The 3m mentioned they paid for him probably included sell-on fees, so they would need to get at least probably 3.5 - 4m to just break even. |

I am really keen to see how the Kelman situation is going to develop. Top scorer in League One now. Surely he must now be able to make an impact with us, at least play some role. Otherwise, if Peterborough managed to get 3m for Edwards, we should be able to get a heft fee for someone willing to take a punt on the League One top scorer. |

I would give him him game-time in all the remaining games, hopefully he can build on the past two games and take that into next season. |
 | Forum Reply | Have we ever had a better loan than Ronnie Edwards? at 13:49 10 Apr 2025
The Field/Austin/Johansen loans combined were pretty good. But fully agree that Edwards has been superb. I can't see us keeping him, but really wish him well and will follow his career with interest. |

I really hope he comes good. We don't have too many (any) tall ball playing midfielders, which was what he was bought for I thought. On a long-term contract, so really need to get him going. |

If Cardiff gets relegated, will Willock have to take a pay cut? His dad won't be happy about that! |

Its a worry that so many (key) defenders are OOC. Potentially we need to replace Dunne, Cook, Paal, Edwards and Fox. All starters or at least featuring regularly. And Ashby leaves, so could be 6 defenders gone. That leaves only injury prone JCS and Morrison who should be on our books. A worrying prospect indeed. I would try to re-sign at least two of the OOC's for some continuity, but it feels like a major defensive rebuild coming up this summer. I wonder if they have Vale earmarked for LB? And a recall for Larkeche looks like a given also. So perhaps LB covered already in case Paal leaves. Edit: Esquerdinha perhaps also in line for some 1st team experience in that position. Perfect opportunity for EDB to get some minutes and show his worth. What? oh. FFS. |

Port Elizabeth is really dull. I was there 2 years ago and shocked at how the city has deteriorated due to lack of maintenance. The Addo National park close to it is actually worth a visit (we spent two nights) if you do not have the time to travel all the way to the Kruger Park for proper game watching. If you are going for cricket, I'm sure you can find places to fill your evenings with, but there are way better options as a tourist destination. [Post edited 11 Mar 12:12]

My son tore his ACL and meniscus during a football match in January. He has been hobbling along in crutches since then and will have reconstructive surgery in 2 weeks time. The tear was pretty much as bad as it could be, the orthopedist took one glance at the MRI and said "that ligament is gone, its surgery for you". Lots of physio treatments to follow the op and full recovery is estimated at 9-12 months. They did say he should be out of crutches about 6 weeks after the op. Depending on how severe your tear is, its not good news in terms of recovery and what you will be able to do afterwards and how soon. |

La Colombe best dining experience you will find in SA. I actually recommend doing lunch, as its in a beautiful settings and especially in summer, its lovely. You _definitely_ have to book long in advance. It used to be on some list of top 50 restaurants in the world and regularly voted best restaurant in SA. It compares to and even exceeds some michelin star restaurants I have been too. Expensive in SA terms, but in euro or pound, I think its superb value for money and if fine dining is your thing, an absolute must-do. https://www.lacolombe.restaurant/la-colombe In fact, I see they claim on their website: "LA COLOMBE AWARDED BEST RESTAURANT IN AFRICA BY THE WORLD'S 50 BEST" [Post edited 11 Mar 9:21]

I grew up in South Africa and went to high school in a town in the Garden Route area. That's when I became a QPR fan when I subscribed to the quarterly newsletter of The Cure and read in one that Robert Smith was a Cure fan. At the time we had Wegerle, who was born in SA, so I figured those two connections are enough for me to pick QPR as my team too. Studied and worked in Stellenbosch before moving to NL, so I know that area pretty well. Its a big country and offers a lot, so it really depends on what interests you. I did a road trip with the kids 2 years ago covering he garden route, part of the Eastern Cape and then headed inland to show them what "wide open plains" really means. Wine tours, wild-life watching, beaches, hiking, adventure stuff, city life... its all there, so pick decide what you want to do before picking places to go. All of that said, I am biased of course, but Cape Town and the Western Cape region offers the most imho. Around Cape Town there are plenty of things to see and do, great restaurants and its the only province that is still maintained to some degree and you won't see deteriorating infrastructure etc. If you fancy golf, the Garden Route is absolute mecca with some of the best courses in the country. |

we might have to recall Taylor Richards from his loan I am a bit surprised/disappointed that we haven’t seen more of Morrison since his return from injury. |
 | Forum Reply | Transfer policy massively attack orientated at expense of defensive cover !! at 13:34 27 Feb 2025
Perhaps two of the better incomings were Morrison and Edwards, both CB. Add Ashby and consider that the only significant defender going out was Lakeche, imho we padded up the defence considerably. On paper at least. You could argue Kakay and Drew are outgoings also (and Cannon), but they would have played bit-part roles at best. I haven't seen a report on how Esquerdinha is doing, anyone? Next year probably depends on JCS being fit again, Cook getting an extension, Dunne staying. So potentially a bit of replacement to be done. |

I won't be surprised if we get Yang for another season, especially if he is doing OK with us and getting enough game-time. Not ready for Spurs 1st team yet, so we all benefit from him staying on for another full season. If he goes back to Spurs in the summer, I reckon there's a 90% chance he's off on loan somewhere else next year. [Post edited 20 Feb 10:16]

I was about to report on the trip today, just got back home late last night. Amazing experience to be at Loftus Road. I've been in London a couple of times before, but always had the bad luck of QPR playing away (or not at all) when I'm there. Those of you who can go often, don't take it for granted! For us far away, we miss out on a lot. The matchday experience was brilliant, loved the stadium, the crowd, the vibe. Notaceble how many young people were at the game, although I sat next to someone probably in his 60's who from the sound of it has probably been coming since he was kid. Was amazed by how busy the club store was! I think if we paid any loan fee for Min-Hyeok, we must have gotten double that back in shirt sales already. Thought we played well after struggling at the start. Read some sceptical reports here that surprised me a bit. As a rugby coach of me used to say: you can only play as well as your opponent lets you. So yes Derby wasn't great, but we also made it difficult for them. Was obviously delighted to see 4 goals, was really not looking forward to a drab 0-0. I even saw Madsen make a first-touch diagonal pass back across field to Dunne. (unless my eyes were playing tricks with me). Chair, Saito and Edwards the standouts for me, but no-one really disappointed. Apart from the football, dinner at Manthan was the highlight. Would love to do this more regularly, but heck its an expensive city for visitors. Will have to wait for the kids to leave the house. |

So here it is, finally. After having been a QPR fan for almost 40 years, my first home game at Loftus Road tomorrow evening. We got the seats changed to the upper loft, where my son will have an isle seat. (a raptured ACL has been confirmed in the mean while, getting an operation next month. Poor bloke is hobbling along on crutches) Tips for places in the neighbourhood where we can grab a pub-dinner before the game? Or will everything be packed and should we look to get dinner further away? totally psyched. |

This is what bugs me about Madsen. As you said, every player wants to do well, but he just doesn't look like his heart is into it. He surely must have caught on to the pace of the game here and must have been told plenty of times what is expected of him, but he just doesn't look that interested to me. I'm not giving up hope, really hope for him (and us) he comes good, but he's pretty much burned up his chances now, so going to be really difficult to get another go. |
