| News Comment | Fernandes gives relegation assurance — diary at 01:36:47
So he's 'Colin' again now is he? Ye of short memory, just look at his record as a QPR manager compared to t'others in the last God knows how many years...and the only one in the last 20 years other than IH to instill some pride. And what is he taking credit for that he shouldn't? ... Recognising AT's talent that he built a Championship winning team around him as captain, with 19 in 44? I used to think less of 'Arry for not being able to man manage him like NW. Bringing in a backbone to the team that still represents it's soul...Mackie, Hill, Derry...and even AT? NW made mistakes but God his hands were tied in the summer of 2011 and when the truth comes out about Barton's twittering influence, his malign put downs of AT and his intimated role in the removal of NW we can recognise what NW brought to QPR and a legacy indisputably better than Hughes..and most others. He was treated shabbily by the club by a naive inexperienced new ownership...not a Colin at QPR, let him enjoy Hughes' demise. |
| News Comment | Barton trains with Fleetwood, Kean talks Hoilett nonsense — diary at 07:58:07
Here's to Fleetwood finding a sugar daddy and buying Barton off us permanently. Mustn't forget one of the pivotal moments of last season...2 -0 down to Liverpool, Barton substituted to appropriate response, going on to win. Can't be bothered wasting any more ink on him. Hope Fleetwood teach him how to take a set piece... |
| News Comment | Our captain, the ‘gobby Scouse git’ — guest column at 00:27:34
Clive... Mel should be the first summer signing...a great analysis yet one I mostly disagree with. Which should be the point of opening such debates! The persuasive power of the points made I suspect sways one or two of the comments back above. I feel really positive that the money now backing us is genuine, shrewd and well targeted. The fact is JB does not fit comfortably with this. Strangely if we'd gone down he may have been just the man to help haul us up back up. But we've stayed up and hopefully he'll be on the road and away. He was a panic purchase in the late and regrettable rush to buy Prem players. He deserves to lose his place at Loftus Road far more than NW, despite the very valid points Mel makes about NW's own contributions to his demise. I only hope the accountant in TF doesn't rule his heart in keeping JB at the club. |

Spot on with yours sentiments Clive. Good luck to the lad and his family and pray he pulls through. |
| News Comment | Nightmare fixtures complete, QPR hunt important festive points haul — full match preview at 01:00:26
Clive...absolutely right. Time for supporters to support the team...Bothroyd included! Are these the same boo boys who gave Furlong and Helgusson such a hard time before they both found their touch many games in. For me on Sunday JB held the line well despite missing his chances...I honestly believe with a bit of confidence these will start to go in. And Heidar looks unfit and needs JB to deflect attention. Let's face it there's no alternative for another half a dozen games and beyond so why destroy confidence when you can foster it. It's time for Adel to take more than a cameo. I've got confidence that NW will see this too...and hopefully Barton will pass to him...accurately!! You R's!! |
| News Comment | Gone in 60 seconds, United teach QPR harsh lessons — full match report at 17:58:52
Now looks like the 8 days pre transfer deadline was not enough time for NW and TF to rectify the abysmal situation left by the permatanned tosser. We're starting to limp towards January and the need to buy genuine Prem players. God knows where we will be in the table when the door opens. The home support was poor. Perhaps playing at 12 noon and not being tanked up prior played a part. Certainly no supportive atmosphere and no animosity a la Chelsea to put off the mollycoddled celebrities. For God's sake it's less than two years since Paul Hart played keep ball with four full backs to hold on for a miserable win. People have such short memories. All players to my mind put their best effort in but were simply outclassed. Shrek played a blinder bar one or two stray passes much as I'm loathe to say it. J Barton was the exception. He was abysmal. He should stop listening to the w--ky band he likes and listen to something more motivating! What was unforgiveable was the lack of ball received by AT who was looking sharp. Barton as captain might not like AT, but he should at least make sure he gets the ball when he's on song. he looked the only route to any possible comeback. In Warnock we should still trust...and without the cameras on Wednesday night perhaps AT might finally step up to the Premiership plate . He has nothing to fear of the professional example set him by Barton in this game. |
| News Comment | QPR hope to improve recent Carrow Road record — history at 01:29:59
I remember being at the '08 1-0 win when we were reduced to 10 men and held on valiantly. Dowie coming over to the QPR at the end and punching the air with real passion. The new Briatore money had not gone sour and there was no meddling apparent. Who knows what would have happenned if he'd been left alone to do the job? Anyway forget that memory, apart from the fact that another performance like that night and 3 points will be ours again! |
| News Comment | Bale force blows QPR out of the water at Spurs — full match report at 21:59:34
Barton clearly needs to be in the middle, isolated on the wing is not bringing out the best in him. Try Taraabt as an impact sub...see how that fares. Am I the only person who thinks Buzsaky deserves a chance at this level? Much as I admire Mackie's endeavours, I can't help but feel that Buzz back to his very best may have a bit of prem class we need. Roll on the transfer window! So light at the back with the never fit One Size and fragile DG. |
| News Comment | Chelsea see red as QPR record famous victory — full match report at 13:49:03
Didn't hear 606 so can't comment on Alan Green but the Sky pundit Mr Wilkins is clearly looking to get his job back someday at Stamford Bridge. Watched recording on return and his one-sidedness took the breath away! May as well have called all the Chelsea team by their training ground nicknames. Denied it was a penalty and totally overlooked the horrible gamesmanship of not returning the ball after Derry injured, as did his commentator. It really was disgraceful grovelling to the bigger club...useless as a manager, wouldn't want to see him around Loftus Rd again. How's Mark Hateley, Super Ray? |
| News Comment | When is a refund not a refund? Guest column at 19:30:44
The new board had absolutely no cause or reason to offer any sort of compensation for the excessive price rises of the greedy previous majority owners. The new board's unprompted and unprecedented gesture should be seen as an act of good faith no more no less. Yes the gesture could be interpreted as misleading, I spent a fiver parking in Westfield last week just to roll up at the box office with a load of vouchers to have it explained to mean no cash refund. The walk was a bit of exercise I suppose. I can't escape the fact that I bought a rip off season ticket off the previous owners and I was prepared to pay the price like all others. The gesture of the vouchers is a good one and should be seen as just that. |
| News Comment | QPR hunt bragging rights against travel sick Fulham — full match preview at 22:29:20
I have to say knowing a few Fulham fans around these parts, they're really pi**ed off at seeing us back in the Prem. Not surprising really as Clive has highlighted how when we were last here only 4k were turning up at the Cottage. They have a very weak support, most of them riding on the Fayed money and God knows how many would have stayed if Hodgson hadn't worked wonders at keeping them up. I'll never forget how they gloated as the new rich, newly arrived fans ten years ago on the way up about 'never playing us again'. Contempt is the most polite way of putting it...let's hope we stuff 'em, they've patronised us for TOO long! |
| News Comment | Plenty of positives, but still that doubt, at new-look QPR — guest column at 00:49:19
I'm not sure how you arrive at this note of caution/pessimism. It is clear that NW had both hands tied behind his back all summer..one hand by not being able to pay much at all in transfer fees (less than the other two promoted) and the other by only being able to offer derisory wages in Prem.terms...hence the tortuous signing of DJ C perhaps. All incredibly depressing after last year's heroics. So the new regime is an unqualified breath of fresh air to my mind, particularly as we'd all smelt the condescending fat rat for a couple of years. Yeah, it's obvious that relegation would badly hurt. Would it derail 'the financial system' as you put it? I don't think so...we're talking about a Vice Chair who allegedly had £30m spent on his wedding day and an extremely shrewd businessman who sees a long term and an open goal Asian market. Paying JB and SWP over the top but without transfer fees is not going to knacker us and let's be grateful for the new board's enthusiasm and wallets. By not being sceptical and getting behind the team the doomsday scenario will be avoided especially as we have one of the great managers in charge. It's been an awful long time since the fans and board at QPR are 'as one'..enjoy! |

| News Comment | QPR are champions, for a week at least, after Watford win — full match report at 20:45:48
Clive, your reports this season have in no small part added to the euphoria. It's been a great season and your unique reporting has documented it all so well. Thanks ever so much! Yesterday was a tremendous moment, but I totally agree with your obvious sentiment about the prats who feel empowered to run on the pitch and for their brief 15 seconds of self glory diminish the event for every true supporter... Yes, I would rather see the team on the pitch than them...and given that this now seems to be the choice of options available, sadly I can't imagine the powers that be sensibly deciding to hand over the silverware on the pitch. Hope I'm wrong. Having had a season ticket all through the last dark 15 years I can't help but notice that many of the selfishly exuberant were of the 'johnny come lately' variety. Thanks folks...you don't really have to stop supporting Chelsea or Fulham on the telly, just keep out of my life! |
