FA to make 82 redundancies
at 14:45 29 Jun 2020

"The high level of uncertainty in our landscape means that we have had to plan for a whole range of potential scenarios. As previously communicated, we are currently planning for potential losses of approximately £300m. As a not-for-profit organisation, this will hit us hard."

That looks like quite a hard cut back but this is how many organisations are going to react, tougher times ahead for many of us

Barnsley town centre closures (please read if travelling up)
at 11:53 12 Dec 2019

From Barnsley Supporters Liaison

Jumble Lane Crossing
Supporters arriving by train and those using the town centre are advised of changes to the Jumble Lane crossing for the 2019/20 and 2020/21 football seasons until the new Market Gate Bridge is installed.
When the crossing was closed in March 2019, a temporary bridge was erected over it. However, that bridge will be closed for an hour before kick-off, during the match and an hour after each home game until further notice to support the safety of fans and other users. This is subject to change based on individual matches.

The alternative walking routes include:
- Midland Street, Eldon Street and Schwäbisch Gmünd Way
or
- Kendray Street, Mayday Green, Cheapside, Wesley Street, Lambra Road, Pontefract Road, Grove Street

There will be no access for supporters via the Alhambra Centre.

As part of the ongoing operation, please note the following changes will be in place at Barnsley Interchange:
- There will be no access through the Interchange, where the bridge will be closed except for those with access needs.
- Access to and from the bus station will be via Eldon Street and Schwäbisch Gmünd Way
- Access to the Interchange from Schwäbisch Gmünd Way will be for access to the railway station only, including being open for fans travelling to and from the game by rail.
- The existing temporary accessible route via Schwäbisch Gmünd Way and the transport interchange is available for those with access needs.

In addition, a number of closures to roads and access points will be in place from half an hour before the planned end of the football match until approximately an hour after full-time:
- Part of Eldon Street North will be closed in both directions between its junction with Schwabisch Gmund Way and the Interchange entrance with diversions via Old Mill Lane, Huddersfield Road, Church Street and Regent Street.
- Parts of Pontefract Road will be closed.
- Access on Schwabisch Gmund Way will be one-way (south only) towards Harborough Hill Road.
- Harborough Hill - Northbound off and Southbound off exit slip roads will be closed.
- Entry and exit of Market Gate car park will not be permitted between 4.30pm and approximately 5.45pm for Saturday 3pm matches. If you park here, you will not be able to leave during the times of the closure.

Bus services will also be diverted during this time: inbound via Harborough Hill Road, Old Mill Lane, Church Street and Regent Street, outbound via Eldon Street, Market Hill, St Mary’s Gate, Old Mill Lane, Sheffield Road.
Supporters are reminded to use the designated and installed crossing points on the roads for their own safety and the safety of other match-going fans.

Wheelchair users or supporters with pushchairs are advised to use the pavement/footway on the Court House side of Eldon Street during peak times to avoid congestion.

Market Gate Bridge will link the existing public transport and the Market Gate car park to The Glass Works as part of the redevelopment of Barnsley town centre. It will be fully accessible and will accommodate footfall on match days.

Potential £25 away ticket deal for Ipswich
at 13:16 4 Aug 2017

QPR1st Supporters’ Trust is calling on the club to give travelling supporters a bit of new season - and Christmas - cheer by agreeing to a £25 ticket deal with Ipswich Town for the Boxing Day away fixture.

Ipswich is writing to clubs in the Championship suggesting a £25 reciprocal ticket deal for away fans for all its games. Twelve clubs have agreed and QPR1st believes QPR should join them.

The Trust has written to club CEO Lee Hoos asking for a positive response to the Ipswich proposal. Trust chair Stephen Dedridge said: “Away fans are vital to creating a good atmosphere at games. The level of time and money our away fans give to the club makes a real difference and we want the club to do whatever it can to make away games as accessible as possible.”

He said: “Away supporters deserve a decent deal on ticket prices. This would be a good gesture of goodwill to travelling supporters to announce this now, at the beginning of the season, and also helpful for supporters when cash is stretched at Christmas”.

Away ticket prices in the Championship have come under serious scrutiny following the introduction of a league-wide cap of £30 in the Premier League. With many away tickets priced in excess of £30, some even over £40; the Championship is one of the most expensive leagues in the world to follow your team.

Reciprocal deals have been immensely popular among away fans where they have been introduced by some clubs in recent seasons and have made a significant contribution to the uplift in the number of away fans going to games.

Lee Hyde, director of retail operations at Portman Road, is reported to have said: “Supporters travel 1000s of miles every season watching their club so we listened to feedback from both our own fans and those of visiting opposition teams and decided to initiate a price cap.”

Along with countless other supporter organisations across the country we have campaigned for the introduction of a “Twenty’s Plenty” cap on away tickets — a national campaign co-ordinated by the Football Supporters’ Federation.

Should QPR pay staff at least the living wage
at 22:57 12 Dec 2014

QPR1st believes QPR should pay all its staff the Living Wage.

While some staff are on massive wages, the club has been silent when asked its attitude to paying all staff at least the Living Wage — £9.15 an hour.

The issue has come to the fore this week with a protest outside the Premier League, calling on clubs to pay the Living Wage, and the announcement by the first London club that all directly employed and those employed by external contractors will receive at least the Living Wage.

QPR1st believes the club should make an announcement supporting the Living Wage for three reasons:

1 It is the right thing to do

2 It will show the club is genuinely interested in the local community

3 London Mayor Boris Johnson is a strong supporter of the Living Wage and has asked all Premier League clubs to pay it. A Mayoral Development Corporation is likely to take over all planning decisions for the Old Oak regeneration area from April. If the club expects him to approve their plans for the new stadium, they should respond to his views of what a football club should be doing to support the community.

QPR1st believes it is the right thing to do. While some employees are on huge wages, others, essential to the running of a club and its events should have a wage they can live on.

QPR1st regrets the fact that it is Chelsea and not QPR that is winning praise for adopting the Living Wage.

Boris Johnson said Chelsea were “setting the right example” with the move. He said: “They realise their team is more than just the 11 men out on the pitch, and that by putting more pounds in the pockets of their staff they are signing up to a win-win scenario that rewards a hard day’s work with a fair day’s pay for everyone.”

Sadly, according to a BBC report, no-one from QPR was able to comment on the club’s view on the Living Wage. We believe the club should commit itself to paying it to staff and to ensuring future contracts with external contractors providing a service guarantee a Living Wage to staff involved.

The wage, set by the Living Wage Foundation, is based on the amount needed to cover basic living. The higher living wage levels compare to the minimum wage of £6.50 an hour.

A supporter has created an online petition which we encourage our members and all qpr supporters to sign
