New Year transfer window rumours
at 12:08 23 Jan 2025

If we can get LB in I think that has to be top of the priority list. Otherwise Ashby is coming in there to cover Paal and that's just asking for trouble even though he actually done a half decent job of it earlier in the season when Ken was injured. Definitely agree on any sort of extra pace we can inject in the team on the 'nice to have' list as if Smyth goes down there's not much of that elsewhere other than maybe Lloyd. There's a few rumours surfacing this morning that Sheff Utd might be interested in Jimmy Dunne. Hopefully not true!

Varanne

Definitely one the data machine seems to have got right! Not the finished article, but if he was he probably wouldn't be playing for QPR. At 23 he's still a baby in the deep midfield role he plays so hopefully will continue to get better! On reflection the clubs decision to go with Varane over a Haydn type is looking like a great move even though it was a cause of concern initially.

Feasibl Had's (in no particular order)
1. Jimmy Bullard
2. Jamie Vardy
3. Kevin Ball

Had not's
1. Hateley
2. Barton
3. Brett Angel (Although I was surprised to hear Mel Johnson say how good he was off the pitch in Clive's recent pod!)

Kolli signs new deal!
at 12:31 17 Jan 2025

If we had any other decent strikers (other than Frey) I'd agree with this! But Kolli seems to be good enough right now to me, as he's scoring regularly in the Championship already and doesn't really look out of place, even though he does have things he needs to improve. Lloyd is the one who really needs the 3-6 month loan more atm.

Kolli signs new deal!
at 12:20 17 Jan 2025

Really happy about this one! With all the noise that was surrounding his contract negotiations and rumours of French clubs wanting him, I really thought we had another Manning and Bright situation on our hands and we'd see him walk away for peanuts. All credit to Nourry and the club for nailing down our three most promising youngsters this week. Just one more to get Dunne!

Varane and Kolli Brilliant Goals

Great goal. I think that might've been only his 2nd goal he's scored since he moved there! Not getting too much game time with May and Stansfield ahead of him.

Madsen Mins
at 11:50 9 Jan 2025

He definitely needs more time to bed in and hopefully now that team is playing better as a whole it will give him the space he needs to settle more and adapt. Him and Celar have rightly been in the spotlight as reportedly two of the most expensive signings we made in the summer, but that pressure doesn't seem to have suited either of them. My big worry with Madsen and Celar to an extent, is they look okay when they have the ball, but their off the ball stuff (pressing, tackling, general running/work rate etc) has ranged from average to terrible so far and for a team that seems to do better when it has less possession that's not a good sign. You have to earn your mins, so he's going to have to start making an impact from the bench if he wants to get back in the side.

Did Joe Edwards get the sack from Millwall after we beat them at home last season too? Or was that a bit later.

New Year transfer window rumours
at 14:35 7 Jan 2025

Hard to see it happening now. Not with the emergence of Morgan and Varane starting to settle in alongside Sam Field. Although it kind of depends what we want to do with Colback in the summer if we are releasing him, then maybe there's room for a younger experienced CDM like Haydn (only 29 compared to Jack being 35). Depends on what he wants wage wise I guess!

Brilliant. I wish Nathan Jones still managed them just to see how he would've reacted to that!

Alfie Lloyd

Definitely made a positive impact again and has something about him which makes me feel like he can succeed at Championship level for us. Needs starts and mins to develop though from a loan to L1 or 2

Varanne

Varane definitely seems to be growing and acclimatising to the Championships relentless schedule. Do we think we might still go back for Hayden in the January window on a loan? Or has Varane established enough trust with his recent form now to mean we don't really need him after all? I'm undecided. The emergence of Morgan to our CM ranks might just be tilting me towards maybe we don't need him as much as we did earlier in the season. An injury or loss of form over the next week or two might sway me back the other way though!

That seems like a crazy decision. I hope they get a new coach in that thinks they can start playing out from the back again!

Team for Cardiff

Not sure why we haven't tried playing someone like Lloyd alongside Celar a bit more to take the pressure and focus off him a bit. Celar clearly has no idea how to play as a lone striker role he's had enough goes at it now for everyone to see it, so something different has to be tried up there in my opinion. Some of his slightly better showings earlier in the season did seem to come when there was another striker closer to him.

MC has got to go
at 23:11 5 Nov 2024

For me, I don't think it would make a difference like it did when we sacked Ainsworth last season. The major differences are I think this group of players are (on the whole) still fighting for the manager, they're just not very good. Martis team choices, formations and tactics mostly make sense and help them not lose 4-1 more often in my opinion. Most of the goals we let in are due to terrible errors and really poor play. Simply put, it'd be like moving deckchairs around on the titanic and i don't think there's a manager who could do any better with that available group of players currently. We'd probably go for someone like Stephen Schumacher if we were to sack him though, and he'd face the same sh*tshow Marti has to deal with. The recruitment and running of this club are the problem not the manager.

Madsen, Celar, Santos

Celar makes me miss Dykes. He's f*cking so awful. Actually, he's not awful, he doesn't get anywhere near the ball to even proove whether he's awful or not, he's just non-existent for almost all of the game. We might as well charge him what we pay to watch this sh*t because he's a spectator. There were at least two easy interceptions from poor Boro passes at the back tonight in the first half where he just seemed to stop running for just as he got close to the ball. It's so frustrating to watch.

False number nine
at 14:15 25 Oct 2024

Just been looking at the Development Squad to actually remind myself of the strikers we have on our books. I'd forgotten about a young CF we'd signed from Burnley in the summer called Rohan Vaughan. Has anyone seen him play for the Dev Squad or know how he's getting on? He looks like a big lad.

I was thinking Madsen in the false 9 role. He's mastered the art of playing the false 6 position so far this season, so why not! Plus he is technically our 2nd top scorer this season.

Interesting that Morgan has jumped above EDB in the young CM pecking order during the international break. He cant event make the bench at the moment! I know he wasnt that great in the recent cup games but strange just how far he's fallen out of favour without playing that much. He cant be training too well currently or maybe he's injured, who knows anymore.
