| News Comment | Big Big Game For Russell Martin At Bournemouth at 13:34:39
What is wrong with people? "Let's become Saints' fan so we can whinge and whine" We gained a draw, we aren't bottom, we've played 5 games with 33 to go! Our opposition on Monday went 10 games without a win, they were getting used to a style of play, bedding-in. Then they went and attained their highest ever points total.. Their fans didn't call to sack the board, fire the manager. They got behind the players, supported their team. So unlike Saints' supporters who are whinging if we don't score within 30 seconds of the start, calling to sack the manager if still no score after 10 minutes. GET REAL. It's going to be difficult, points will be few and far between, there'll be disappointments. We don't have a team of Championship players as some so called fans suggest. We have a decent side. Get behind them and be proper supporters instead of of whining minnies. |

The stats show Sugawara far ahead of KWP in all aspects and Taylor is a better natural left back. Plus KWP has turned down a new contract. Obvious, drop him. Get what we can for him in January. |
| News Comment | Southampton V Manchester United The Verdict at 11:37:53
So RM's only disappointment was the ref and 4th official looked at each other before sending Stephen's off? My disappointment was that, after the fluffed penalty, we didn't have another attempt on goal! We were brilliant for 30 minutes, had a few good chances then the penalty debacle. Apparently it was RM's decision on the taker. Score that and who knows? The team, apart from Stephens obviously, was my what I posted before the game. As far as I know we still have Tall Paul. Against Everton on Tuesday I'd get him in with Stewart alongside and 2 true wingers and 2 DMs and play ABK and TBH at the back with Lumley in goal. Play as a fluid 442/424 with FBs adding extra wide attackers when going forward. Next Saturday revert back to Saturday's team but with Tall Pall or Stewart as striker and 2 out of JB/THB/ABK at the back |

The three to drop are Adama, who has struggled to step up, Smallbone, sadly, who also has failed to be anywhere near the standard, and teacher's pet Stephens, lowest ranked player in each game. Back 4: Saggy; TBH/ABK; JanB; KWP DM: FD; Ugo AM: Fernando SF: Dibling; Cornet No wingers!! But both Dribbles Dibbles and Cornet are fluid and speedy. Fernando is a true attacking midfielder and scorer so they can morf into a front 3, MU's weakness this season. Both Saggy and KWP can provide balls in whilst FD and Ugo cover the midfield If this doesn't pan out, as Nick says, we can totally change the side at half-time with wingers, we have plenty!, and striker (Tall Paul?? Ross Stewart??) Lallana could be good for 30 minutes. He still has class and skill If Stephens plays after his disastrous shows so far I can see fans really starting the RM OUT calls, me not yet in full voice but starting to lean that way |
| News Comment | Date Set For Southampton's Carabao Cup Trip To Everton at 14:19:59
I remember my first game at Goodison; 1954 against Chelsea with my grandad, a lifelong blue! The biggest memory was the throwing of toffees into the crowd at half-time, when they were still owned by sweet-maker Barker & Dobson, thus the nickname! When the family returned home I insisted on being taken to the Dell and the lifelong stress began!!! |
| News Comment | Southampton Receive Formal Transfer Request In Writing From Player at 16:48:27
Ralph brought him in and wingers to provide him. The club immediately sacked Ralph and subsequent managers, including the current one, didn't know how to utilise his talent! Only once did I see a high cross for him to attack. 20 yards out and hit the post. Seen him play 3 times in Turkey. He'd flourished in the PL: he has a beast of a shot . Like a Peter Crouch upgrade. I feel sorry for him having been messed about by the club. Hope his next dream has a better outcome |
| News Comment | Charly Alcaraz Says He Wants To Be At Southampton at 18:08:32
As with Tall Paul, it's often the manager that doesn't know how to utilise something a bit different (Le Tiss and England?) Tall Paul scored for fun before and after arriving but was wrongly used here. I only ever saw one high cross to his head in any game, 20 yards out. OK he hit the post! He has a thunderous shot (saw him play 3 times in Turkey) Used properly he'd light up the PL (Crouch?) Carlos Alcaraz, apart from winning Wimbledon, offers something different. He needs that striker (EvertonSaint's cooment) who can feed him on the burst. Maybe Ross Stewart is the man?? |
| News Comment | Southampton Said To Have Agreed Terms With Brazilian Defender at 13:08:58
Manning and Stephens out the door. Neither are PL-level defenders. RM struggled in the Championship and, although JS had a few reasonable games at Bournemouth, he clearly isn't good enough. I'd rather see Bree as 2nd cover. He is a natural FB. So we need 1st cover for Taylor. |
| News Comment | Southampton Back For Third Attempt To Sign Defender at 14:05:20
I can't imagine Swansea selling us the club cat while the legal wrangles continue! Nick, you say Wood is young and untested at the highest level. Do you mean like THarwood-Bellis??? JanB did have some good games in the PL but Stephens was out of his depth (and usually out the team spending time out on loan) Lawrence is prime for another, hopefully more successful, loan but certainly one for the future, maybe JanB's replacement in time. We seem to have had this argument on here before - an older (wiser?) CB to steady the line. Your suggestions last time were mocked on here. But the teams those players went to stayed up; were went down!! 1-0 to Nick (and me!!) |
| News Comment | Southampton Set To Sign Out Of Contract Brentford Midfielder at 14:13:23
"good experienced signings at the peak of their powers" Two questions: why would they come to a newly promoted club; and how could we afford them under FFP regulations? We've already paid £20m for THB. There's talk of £11m to £15m for Rodon. We either sell to off-set that expenditure or go for the free/loan market. We have AL who is unlikely to be a regular starter. Saman Ghoddos is a similar type of player who would be the regular starter. One position filled for free and not crazy wages and.with PL experience. Seems sensible to me. Save money for where we most need it: PL-quality/experience striker and GK. We need a LB (Perraud would be perfect and he belongs to us already) |
