 | News Comment | Ivan Juric Positioning Himself To Continue In Southampton Job at 16:44:55
Not sure they’ve done any practice at set pieces. At the weekend we had Manning curling balls in which arrived with snow on them.. Terrible corners and nowhere near the step ladder.. He has inherited a weak team which lacks pace, so it’s not his fault we’re in this position. That said, some of decisions have had a detrimental effect on our chances of results so although I don’t blame Juric, and actually quite like how he comes across, I just don’t see him bringing us back up next year. Are we really going to change ten out of squad to bring in his sort of player? I doubt it. I wouldn’t read into the words in the Echo interview too much. What is he supposed to say? No we don’t see eye to eye..? |
 | News Comment | The Time For Managerial Change At Southampton Is Now at 17:15:35
Agreed we should make the change now and put Rusk and Lallana in. Rusk on his own may be far too defensive but with Lallana, we might have more attack. The Rohl compensation is worth it if he is the right man. We’ve wasted absolute millions on inadequate players over the last few years. |
 | News Comment | Southampton V Wolverhampton Wanderers The Verdict at 17:08:46
I have to agree with the majority of this article, except to say that I thought tall Paul did ok considering the situation. People moan about him not jumping for their second goal but it looked clear to me that the defender used Paul’s shoulders as a step ladder and you can’t jump when someone is riding you. He made the first decent lay off at pace in the whole game which finally gave Tyler some space, he hit the post and Paul’s reactions were brilliant and showed why he or Archer should have started the game. Wolves without Cunha are the worst team in the league for me. They are good at cheating which helps them get results, so there was no excuse for Juric to not start a striker and after the better success of 4 at the back at Anfield, there was no way we should have reverted back to a back 4.5.. I’ve given Juric as much of a chance as possible but Saturday did it for me. How is our best player Fernandes supposed to play his game when every time he drove forward, there was no outlet for him to work with. He should go and Rusk and Lallana should see out the season. The time is now, with a 17 day break. I thought aside from the first goal, ABK was very good again considering his lack of games the last 2 years. Final comment is about the pitch. A lot of our mistakes with playing from the back have been assisted by slippery surfaces. There is this obsession with constantly watering the pitch, which may help surface longevity but the pitch for me often looks like it’s hard to keep balance and they look scared of slipping. I just don’t understand it, really don’t think it’s helped us, particularly in the early part of the season. |
 | News Comment | Former Saints Striker Could Be Coming Home ! at 12:33:01
Absolute joke, his legs have gone and has been a nothing for years now. What on earth makes you think this will be good business for the club? The Chsmpionship is far more physical and demanding than what the likes of Ings can cope with. He is just about fit to play 60 mins in league 1 games and in any case, why bring in someone who can play in the Championship but not the Prem. Another Armstrong scenario and then if we did get promoted, we’d have to find new strikers again, who haven’t played with those who came up.. in other words more gambling. The answer is to recruit players who are good enough to play in the Prem or have the potential. We already know the answer with Ings and Armstrong. Shearer would give us more minutes than Ings and why bring back someone who caused our decline by being greedy and going for the extra few grand rather than become a local hero.? No thanks, hobble on.. |
 | News Comment | Southampton V Liverpool The Verdict at 12:50:41
Nunez challenge was definitely a red according to the rules and they took 4 minutes to find the excuse to not overturn the weak ref. The first penalty was a joke decision and again the dodgy VAR did its job for the big team. Nunez shouldn’t have been on the pitch to equalise or dive for the penalty. I would suggest that Juric actually got the right starting line up given that we were one nil up at half time away at the Champions elect. I know the fans don’t like Sugawara but he obviously didn’t do it on purpose and he was nudged. In trying to regain his balance elbowed the ball. It’s interesting how we see the positives cans defend some players yet can’t wait to criticise another as if they did something on purpose. I didn’t think the handball in the home game was deliberate either, it’s just a corrupt VAR who find and interpret what they like. That one came off his chest first and in the rules should not have been a red but feel free to blame Suga if you want to misrepresent the situation. Last note, the police were a disgrace at Anfield, removing people for claiming Nunez took a dive.. psycho police with fabricated attempts to charge people who were just having fun. Evil and calculated police behaviour. One woman was in her 60’s, utter disgrace what went on, I will be writing to the MP for Liverpool and their chief of police after their behaviours because it was an awful abuse of power. |
 | News Comment | A Rough Guide To Liverpool at 17:14:58
Thanks for sharing their fax number, lol. Solid rough guide as ever, you may find that United were the first supporters to sing you’ll never walk alone, after Munich 58, then Liverpool ‘adopted’ the song. Not sure how true that is but I remember something about that. I haven’t been there since the Jimmy Case rocket that put us 2-1 up just after half time in the cup but will be there Saturday. Indeed it is probably the most special of the away grounds to visit. I’m hoping they don’t get a good result at PSG tonight so they have to rest a few against us as the second leg is Tuesday. |
 | News Comment | Ivan Juric Sacking Rumours Surface at 22:19:03
I didn’t blame Juric, just the wrong time to bring someone with his style in. He may well be a good manager with the right players but as with Amorim at Utd, who’s team in Lisbon was on fire using virtually the same set up as Juric, he has struggled to be able to implement his style without a couple of windows to change players. Again I blame the inept board for bringing him in when they haven’t got the players for his style and haven’t backed him in the window whatsoever. This guy Crook is just giving his opinion which means little so the ball hasn’t started rolling. The announcement of Rusks new role could have been done a month ago as he has already been working in this position for a while so this is a clutch at a weak straw to link it to the Juric sack. That said it wouldn’t surprise me if he does go irrespective of the Rusk announcement. We are the filling in a PSG sandwich for Liverpool next week followed by the cup final so Liverpool might rest a few against us which will help Juric in his next match but if we get stuffed up there by their second string then I can see damage to season ticket sales if he remains. |
 | News Comment | Henrik Kraft Resigns As A Director Of Sport Republic at 18:32:20
Unnecessary, Yosemite Saint? How is the uncovering of billions of pounds of corruption unnecessary? No wonder this stuff went on in the first place.. 50 million on condoms to a foreign nation. Hahahahahahaha brilliant! In hindsight, they probably shouldn’t have sacked Martin as we were never going to survive after the start we had but the place had become toxic because of his stubbornness. He should have gone after the Bournemouth away game but our board don’t know anything about football. I mean what is the point in Gronbaek, our sole January addition? This just about sums up how clueless they are. Cornet was fantastic too…… |
 | News Comment | Southampton At Chelsea The Verdict at 18:47:21
I thought Bella-Kotchap was excellent last night. Undroppable on that performance - he will make mistakes I’m sure but his class and ability showed last night. Good to see. Rambo again was outstanding and there’s not much to say about the rest of them. Our players just aren’t good enough in general, our recruitment has been really poor and we relied on an ideology to paper over the weaknesses under Martin and it was enough for 4th in the Championship. The summer needed 8 or 9 players of the quality of Rambo and Fernandes but we got 2.. |
 | News Comment | Southampton V Brighton The Verdict at 09:01:54
I’m sure it’s now well known around the football circuit that our ownership and management are clueless chancers. This makes it incredibly difficult to recruit the staff and players required to turn things around. We came up and a Coventry player went to Sheff United in the Championship rather than us in the Prem. Other Championship clubs recruited better players when we were in the Prem last time out too, so I put our demise simply down to the recruitment and how it is structured. It has been appalling, so until the owners go and someone else buys us, we’re heading for a Championship relegation battle. |
 | News Comment | Southampton V Brighton The Verdict at 11:16:53
Yesterday was truly awful. Some players just weren’t interested. If they don’t want to play for the manager, then play for the fans, as we are the paying customers. We looked tired yesterday, Dibling was invisible, never got into the game and Fernandes was too deep. What was the Pooh in Gronbaek if he’s obviously not good enough to be involved. ABK played 5 yards too high so there was a huge gap in behind him, not his fault, he’s hardly played a real game for ages. After yesterday, I still don’t blame Juric but at the same time, he’s had zero positive impact based on this performance. It feels like there’s some communication barriers as he doesn’t seem to grasp some English phrases. Having said that, I don’t think the answer is Rusk and Lallana as they will just be equally out of their depth, without the players to change things. We will be the next Luton because Solak hasn’t got a clue what he’s doing and neither do those beneath him. League 1 here we come again, that’s no joke. |
 | News Comment | Have Southampton Fans Finally Lost Faith With The Club at 17:10:26
The silence is because they don’t really know what they’re doing, so they don’t know what to say. They knew Wilcox would be going but did nothing to find a replacement for nearly a year. They should have already had contingency plans for Wilcox going but obviously they didn’t. In addition, we won’t have the success of the likes of Bournemouth because we’re not prepared to pay 25 to 30 million on players, something Bournemouth did first year back in the Prem, so we don’t have the ambition, squad overloaded with average players, no space for youth to come through and a lack of quality to compete at the top as a result. We just have to hope Spors knows what he’s doing and we start to recruit strong pacy skilful players rather than joggers and snowflakes, Fernandes aside.. |
