Despite his 3 goals, Kane’s displays were pretty dire. He hardly won any headers, and mostly when he came back, was completely ineffective. Other than at corners, why on earth would you want your centre forward to be next to the penalty area?
I feel sorry for him, he is as honest as the day is long, and has performed excellently for us in the past, but over these championships, and the warm up games, is way, way off the standard required. maybe he will come again, but at present, does not merit a starting place, or maybe even a call up.
I have always admired him, even when folk were slagging him off earlier in his career. I hope he will be back, but fear not. |

Who are these goal scorers? Armstrong, 24, but much worse in the PL, Adams, 15, but won’t be here? |

The cost of players is written off over the life of their contracts. So we don’t actually lose anything on Adams. It isn’t reasonable to expect that an older player is worth as much in the market as when we bought him, especially as his returns in the PL were nothing like we hoped for. |

When the mower cut the long grass on the playing field, you all had to kick the grass back to make a clear are for the pitch. It could sometimes be a small pitch if there weren’t many of you. Then you used grass mounds for the goalposts, and goal celebrations involved diving through the goalposts.
Sides would vary during the game as players were swapped to make it more even.
