I am yet to know what Walcott has to offer us,between him and Elyounoussi absolutely nothing. The second half we gave the ball away so many times we might of had yellow shirts on.So disappointing after the start we literally folded in the second half it was as if we thought we could stroll around and win.Stange pick with Diablo playing instead of Tella don’t know what he has to do to get a game.Very dissatisfied today should of been three points 😩

We take off Romeu, play with 3 hulking centre backs and can't defend the next corner. There's no way that should go in with those 3.
So we then have a series off corners from one of the Prems supposed best crossers NONE of our big defenders can get on the end of it. We need to start defending corners AND scoring from them.

How did we lose that? Should have scored 5 in the first half Yet another blunder by McCarthy for their first goal.

Same old same old. Dominant in first half
but nothing to show for it. Sloppy play in the second half lead to Norwich taking the lead.Norwich just wanted it more in the second half.

McCarthy at fault for both goals. Salisu and Diallo were also bad. Diallo seemed to shrink, couldn't make a pass, kept on getting caught in possession. We seemed to forget how to get the ball out of our half. Formation fell apart.

Subs made us worse. Broja got lost up front. Walcott had an ineffective game even by Walcott standards. Lyanco came on and we then seemingly changed to a 4-2-4 formation with Diallo and JWP out numbered in midfield where defenders were either forced to hang onto the ball too long or hit long balls to Norwich players.

Shame as it started well.

Still Ralph has got 10 PTS from 15. Hopefully just a blip.

Saints fans sounded great tho. Shame the team couldn't match them.

Horrendous game. NcCarthy needs to be benched after this display,. Both goals on him. Also, Ralph made horrible subs and deserves blame for this one too. Salusi, KWP and Diallo had their worst games this season and Theo should only ever sit on the bench after his display. I am so pissed off right now we deserve to lose on that second half display. UGH is the best I can do.

Disastrous result.
We were excellent in the first half, take the lead after 3 minutes, but then almost immediately concede from a typical McCarthy habit - not being able to protect his near post. He should just have palmed that header out for a corner but in stead he palmed it into his own goal.
We totally dominated Norwich for the rest of the first half but couldn't get another goal.
We were as poor as Norwich in the second half , and midway through it I thought ok let's take a point.
But....
With a little more than 10 minutes left, a big Norwich defender, Hantley (or Hanley), gets on the end of a corner and - although from about 11 yards - McCarthy is unable to stop the header towards his near post, although McCarthy has a good position on his line, and the ball bounces in front of him and goes in....
Awful to watch.
Ralph took off in-form-Adams after an hour to protect him from injury because Adams played a full match vs Denmark for Scotland only a few days ago, but that made us far less dangerous. Likewise with Moi who played for Norway 2 days ago.
Walcott and Broja were brought on but they didn't make a difference. With 2 minutes left of injury time Walcott missed a header from a beauty of a cross from JWP. He really should have scored.
Very disappointing defeat - and, for me, a sort of "sign" that we will probably struggle to move into the top half of the table, unfortunately.

I'm SURE the usual Ralph suck ups will be here, looking for reactions from true supporters that want Ralph out but whatever... the fact, yet again, is we lost the game because Ralph HASNTGOTACLUE, he proved to be inept with his subs, his formations and PL life in general.

His interview was embarrassing, blaming everything apart from himself. He MUST GO. We will be relegated with him at the helm. Do not give him another ££ in Jan, he needs to go now.

Just two points from me:

Firstly, Forster has to be given a run of games after that horror show from McCarthy.

Secondly, we’ve now only scored more than one goal in a league game on two occasions out of12 games this season. That has to change or we’ll really struggle this season. We can’t rely on keeping clean sheets to help us win games.

Result wasn't surprising given the new manager bounce. Also not surprising given the state of the midfield put out by Ralph

To quote the Smiths 'that joke isn't funny anymore.' Either the squad isn't up to standard or the manager isn't.

This was Nathan Tella's match today and he was overlooked. In place, Moi...just not good enough against a weaker team like this. Tella would have got us the goal today.

Would be great to have Forster in nets for the rest of the season, but that is a dream. Sad, though, because he is the more consistent and better keeper. Badly managed situation.

I'm a Ralph fan, but this didn't feel good today.

Ralph has done well with most of his substitutions lately, so going to cut him some slack today, but he must have known that Norwich couldn’t be as lame in the second half! We were strolling around thinking this is going to be easy again and Norwich were up for it in the second half. His team talk I conclude was ‘let’s do what we were doing in the first half and will ignore what changes Norwich might do!’ They won a lot of second balls that they weren’t winning in the first half. I would have liked the Saints to have played more balls into the channels in the early part of the second half rather than the passing across the back line where we were getting ourselves into trouble. The momentum changed and it leads to Ralph then thinking I’ll just take a point now thanks, very negative against a poor side!

That was a total Disaster! Fraser Forster must be in goal in our next game! Walcott is not even good enough to be on the bench! Why was Che Adams taken off and why was Nathan Tella not brought on? That should have been an easy 3 points Norwich where very poor. After that embarrassment I cant see where our next points are comming from. If we keep playing like we did in the second half yesterday we could be in the bottom 3 at Christmas.

'Southampton V Burnley The Verdict
Monday, 25th Oct 2021 09:47
Saints fell prey to those lapses in concentration again to only draw in a game that they really should have won if they had finished off a number of chances that they really should have buried.'

Nick you may as well cut and paste from any number of matches over the last few years. Just change the word draw to loss.
