Mr Montague s business has this s description.

"He led a team of 100, developing advanced methods for football analysis and focusing on predicting game outcomes using match and player data."

Why other than gambling would a company find value in predicting game outcomes?

You then have to be aware that strict propiety will be required if the football directors other job is predicting football results for a gambling purposes.

Is there an issue here or not. ?

It is used for gambling purposes I would think. What other uses are there? Statistical analysis for the FA or media?

The gentleman will be head of football for Swansea and working for a firm that has predicted Swansea s result in advance.

If you've ever watched moneyball you'll know they used a system in MLB which can predict how much more likely your team will get results with/without certain players in it.

Don't get me wrong, could be used for Gambling purposes, but given Montagues role it's much more likely it's being used to hypothetically for modelling results for teams to look at "what if we had this player or that player".

Moneyball was about looking at the edge case stats to see if a player was being undervalued. An example would be a player who makes high numbers of balls into the final third, but has low assists. In that it may show that the player is creative but the headline stats don't show it.
Running Match simulations on differing line ups is way beyond anything on the market currently

There wasn’t one at Notts County, your comment intrigued me, (Res) made a call and that has been cleared for some six years.
