No Taliban fan, I thought it was the Mujahideen that fought the Russians.

Best to leave Afghanistan to evolve naturally in the face of the world outside. Saudi Arabia have understood they cannot stay as they are and are slowly opening up things for their people. Oman is a shining light as a monarchy living in peace and relative fair society.

A paternal monarchy is probably the best solution for many Muslim countries. He would of course be wise to listen to his people and act on their and his interests. Oman perhaps has limited freedom of speech. Neighbouring Yemen you an say what you like but you will not live well or long.
