Enjoyed this and the last paragraph is relevant to this thread.
‘“Really, Sam.” And he threw his arms round me and said, “I told you! I knew he wouldn’t go!” And then he cried. And I thought, how nice it would be if we could one day find a prime minister who makes us feel a little of what Sam feels about the little pot-bellied man in the tracksuit at QPR.’

Toby Young, Michael Gove and now Giles Coren- ffs why don't they support Fulham Brentford or Chelsea

I genuinely thought "Sam" was Sam Field until I read the article and now I'm a bit disappointed it isn't.
Mick's belly or our training kit isn't very flattering.
Black is supposed to be slimming or so they say over here in this side of the pond. The camera just caught Mick jumping and waving his arms around furiously thats when it all hung out No worries its his brain we care about and its working fine

So that would make a father, son and grandson, let alone the numerous other relatives of the Coren family who support us somehow distasteful. I think it might be you who needs to reconsider your allegiance.

He's obnoxious and arrogant, Giles, but he does write well. Nice article. And he's right, too. Weird how a Championship football club in SW London can find a better leader, which Beale undoubtedly is, than a country like ours with among the best Unis in the world to choose from.
I like Mick's pot belly and ill fitting tracksuit. It makes him just that bit human, given all the tactics, encyclopaedic knowledge of players across Europe and psychological understanding. We're not really a Pep or Pochetino kind of club, with their sophistication and glamour. I just don't think it would fit.
Mick fits.
We have got him for a season, and I'm going to enjoy it, if nothing else for the press conferences, which don't have Warb's word bingo (first contact, second ball). Jimmy's clichés, it is what it is. Or MacLaren's really bad hair. Sometimes I even watch them twice because he speaks so well.
I'm proud we can have a guy to look up to, so I can distract myself from the embarrassment of a political system that throws up Boris Johnson, Theresa May and Liz Truss 🤮.
