It's just a coincidence that so many youth player deals were running out at around the same time. We'll probably have a similar situation in another 3 years. | | | |

Or have we finally realised that they are never going to be good enough to play for a premier league side?
If we were still in league one then the likes of Daniel Alfei would have a chance but not at our current level.

To an extent we're always going to be in that situation. There aren't any clubs in the world that can field a full u23/21/18s side and have every single player in there be capable of stepping up to senior football at the club.
Keeping a few good team players around can be good for the development of the genuine prospects. It's not like they're on Emnes money or anything. | | | |

True but at some point you've got to decide that they're not going to make it and we've not been great at that in my opinion.
Kyle Copp is one who had a real talent when I saw him a couple of seasons ago but I guess he hasn't progressed.

So there is not much point in pumping millions in whilst in the premiership. Better off spending on first team players. |  |
