My favorite from years ago (mentioned by one or two above with the wrong name) was the old SSA (Swansea Students Association) bar in the Union Building, especially when Trembling Knees were playing. I wasn't strictly speaking a student, having graduated some years before, but Eamonn wasn't too picky about who he admitted. I have more mixed memories of Dora's (the only late night venue I frequented regularly). One of the lows came when I swapped cars with a mate so that he could use my saloon on a long trip, and I had to explain why I had let his MGB roadster get vandalised at the side of the Exchange Buildings.

Saw loads of decent punk/ rock bands in Doras. Some sh1te ones as well, making for an interesting night there to be even more entertaining! Top Rank and Barrons were very happy hunting grounds Went down on bended knee in Cinders proposing to my (ex) wife- all that blood and puke really ruined my decent trousers!
Edit.
Worked in the Blackhills Country club, prior to joining up. Had some eventful, interesting times and encounters in there as well

Ritzy's.. Worked on the doors there for a spell in the late 90's just when it was being changed to Time.... great club, Great times!
I seem to recall a door man called 'Brendan', during those times and what ever became of the DJ going by the name of 'Nick Madge' from memory? Seem to recall him driving around Swansea in a Porsche looking like the sun shone out of his backside?

Just stretching this a bit I remember (not all together fondly) a couple of nights in the late 70s in the talk of the abbey when I was knocking about with a girl from the ropewalk in Neath. I assume it no longer exists? Also, what was the pub just by the ropewalk? Was it something like the Windsor Castle...I seem to have something royal in my head. Had a new years eve in there in 1978 where I was frankly grateful to get out alive.

Whatever happened to FLARES disco.?
Used to love getting smashed on that lit up dance floor and strutting to the sound of Y.M.C.A and the disco sounds of the 70s...went to the one in Cardiff last week and the magic is still there..only just..soon it I'll be gone I suppose.
😂😂😂😂😂
Taking of barons good Lord they let me in there one night after I'd jumped in the fountain in castle gardens.
Good times Wayne, though they did let more or less anyone in that place that had money..seen some characters in there.
Anyone remember that sweaty bar underneath the place with the dregs of society lol ? The stale smell of beer, sweat and cigarette smoke with a sticky carpet was not for the faint hearted...Did nt venture down that pit much...
Anyways on a side note this thread is now one year old ,great contributions by all, brought back some good memories.
Happy Birthday
