Burlers added 16:21 - Dec 18 codge added 17:35 - Dec 21 Much needed win well earned, why we can't play like this at home is befuddling.I thought the addition of Armstrong in the staring team was a great choice, l even gave Stephens 7 out 10 for a much stronger and well played game.overall much improved now if we can just keep it up. the_saint added 18:30 - Dec 21 Great performance from the boys, trouble at home is fans get on their backs and the players are then terrified of making a mistake. Against palace thets all get behind the team and show them how great us saints fans are coyr. I can now enjoy my Christmas dinner leighsaint added 18:36 - Dec 21 Defence had a better game but I think Villa are worse than us and that’s saying something. Why he took Armstrong off who was one of our 2 top players beggars belief, Obafemi is a headless chicken did he produce anything I can’t recall. Once again Adams comes on far to late to have an impact. It was a better performance from Saints more energy and 3 goals but still not convinced. KriSaint added 20:33 - Dec 21 Very happy with the 3 points. Congrats to all my fellow fans, the travelling fans, the players, Ralph, his staph. I have been waiting for such a performance for A LONG time. Well done. We could have won 6-1! (again) I´m very happy that we had Stuart Armstrong back today and special congrats´ to Stephens being brilliant today - scoring and making only 1 minor mistake throughout the whole match today which had absolutely no consequences. Very good performance from Ings too. Thanks Danny Kings! And finally - a special thanks to McCarthy for making an important safe at 0-0. KriSaint added 01:11 - Dec 22 p.s.: We have to keep the 4-4-2 for now , and as long as Shane Long has his pace and engine and attitude he deserves to keep his place. It is of such importance to have two strikers with the mess we are in, and with Longs presence he seems to take some pressure off of our midfielders AND Danny Ings because he does well in build up play and - of course - not least airial duels, not only offensively with flick ons to Redders and Ingsy but ALSO when we defend dead balls. And Stuey Armstrong is much, much, much better defensively than Djenepo, which we really need, and he has good attacking skills in his game too from midfield that we badly need when he is not playing. He makes very intelligent deep runs that JWP and PEH don´t. We might FINALLY have found our strongest starting 11. Let´s keep it for now but not forget the probable need for rotation in the festive periode with many games - to avoid exhaustion and injuries. I wasn´t too impressed by middleweight boxer Obafemi when he came on if I´m honest but let´s not forget that he is only 19. Cedric today was a less liability than normally, and I thank him for that and wish him well when he - hopefully - leaves SOON. Today Stephens did very well, so let´s give him some credit when deserved, and..... with a classy, physically strong leader type CB next to him (costing 20+ million pounds, I´m afraid) he might become good, because - though he is very far from being the finished article - he does have a good understanding of the game as a "playing CB". Also I think he has a positive influence on the bounding between players and other people around him in the club, because he is a good lad with a good attitude towards gaffer and team mates. superhoopdownunder added 01:58 - Dec 22 Highlights were BOS - not sure why he started on the bench - he turned the game for us I thought Eze and Amos also played very well Lowlights were missed chances especially by Wells - a couple of terrible misses Full backs - poor performances by Kane and Manning Terrible mistake at the end by Cameron We completely dominated the first 30 minutes and then Charlton's second change was tactical which negated our advantage up front and in midfield. Charlton then got on top and it was only when BOS got on after 66 minutes that we took charge of the game again - I think Warburton should have acted much sooner. Geoff78 added 12:03 - Dec 22 Like other games Rs start ok, then lose their way, start giving the ball away and can't adapt to changes in how the opposition are playing. But a strange game. For long periods Charlton looked very poor and Rs played well. But they made the usual quota of gross errors in their own half of the pitch and but for some excellent keeping from Lumley could have conceded 4 or 5. Bettwsresident added 17:16 - Dec 26 Armstrong, Bednarek, Stephens, all 10/10. Hojberg, Redmond, Soares, JWP and Bertand really good, best game ever for Obarfemi and even Che worked really hard. What a brilliant result and our best defensive display since VVD threw the toys out. We stifled them and then hit on the break with speed and power, could have been 3 or even 4, Che just missed a tap in and redmond should have buried it when through. Great Christmas present, and I just love away games! codge added 17:48 - Dec 26 Have to admit didn't see that coming, but most welcome for sure.Thought the whole team played well our defense was very organized finally which made such a difference. Now if we can produce this form at home we will be moving up in the right direction. As l said great alround performance by everyone, well done Saints.
