Saints Have Great Chance To Progress To Last 8 Of The Capital One Cup
Wednesday, 23rd Sep 2015 22:19

Saints have been handed a great chance to get into the last 8 of the Capital One Cup as they now meet Aston Villa at St Mary's in the next round.

Matt le Tissier did his job and drew out Saints for a home tie and although it was against a fellow Premier League club, surely Aston Villa a side we demolished last season at St Mary's and who are not in great form this, would have been one of the first choices if we were to draw a Premier club.

Elsewhere the draw has the potential to open up with other all Premier ties including

Stoke City V Chelsea

Man City V Palace

Possibly Liverpool V Bournemouth (Game Still on at time of writing)

Everton V Norwich

with the other games being

Man Utd V Middlesbrough

Hull V Leicester

Sheffield Wednesday V Arsenal

Saints now have a great chance to get in the last 8 and then to exorcise the ghost of that awful night in Sheffield, lets hope they take it.

Shame none of the big teams drew each other, but well happy with the result and that Ronald put out a strong side including Cedric, Juanmi and Ramirez. The fact we scored six without Pelle as well was another positive. There is no reason, with the squad we assembled for the Europa, that we can't take both of the cups seriously, without affecting our league effort.

Yes we have a great chance and should put the Villans to the sword with ease, but all depends on the draw. Its not like Wimbledon where you can see who is next up! We were in a good position last year and we threw that chance away so you can't think anything until the big guns drop out.
