As MG Probert says Coady and Mee, along Tarkowski should have been considered as CB options. The 2 from Burnley were both available on frees. Perhaps taking one of them would mean we would still be in the PL. |
| News Comment | 40 Years On ! The FA Cup 3rd Round Saints V Aston Villa at 23:09:56
I was a 15 year old living in Rugby at the time, my lasting memory is standing on the Witton Lane staying very quiet when our winner went in, and hearing a couple of irate villa fans saying how they wanted to "get therehands on"some of the saints fans who were sat in the seats where the away section is these days. A great day at school the next day cos no one could believe we'd won! |

It was noticable that the reason we played so much better with 10 men was because Steve Davis came on and kept hold of the ball. Really cannot understand why he was on the bench. Given how well we played last week with Mane down the middle, his pace against O'Shea would have caused all sorts of problems |

Might be contentious, but if we get £30m for Shaw and make sure there is a 20%/25% sell on clause as well, it would make excellent business sense. Whilst my matches are largly viewed via the internet these days, my view is that he isn't really a great defender. How many goals have we conceded this year because he has been caught too far up field without cover in place. Time may tell, because I thought much the same of Gareth Bale, but do believe I was proved correct in terms of defending! That said Shaw does get into a lot of good attacking situations but does he play the right ball?? If he has any nous, he will stay for at least another season along with the other £100 m of talent that is supposedly off. Schniedelen, 1 more season and u could/no should be playing CL football with Saints |

I was there at the 3rd round replay. Extra time meant I was late home on a school night. Lucky I lived in Rugby, so not far to go home |

Having moved to the North East in the 80s, I was in the fortunate position of being able to get tickets for the match. Although standing on a half knocked down Gallowgate end with my wife & two small kids 8 and 6 was a bit daunting as the drunken mags arrived late for the start. Fortunately a small Ladbrokes kiosk took my £1 bet on Neil Maddison to net the first goal at 16/1. Andy Cole equalised just in front of us before haf time. We than had a great view of Le Tiss scoring past Mike Hooper. I have a video at home that shows another saints fan a little along from me trying to contain his delight at the goal as well. Had the bragging rites in the pub that weekend. |
