Syria World War 3 09:39 - Aug 24 with 44237 viewsLord_Bony

Russia Iran and china have said if the west goes in to syria they will oppose it militarily.

The recent chemical attacks seem like a bit of a false flag to me. Why would Assad use them on his own people when he is winning the war against Al Qaeda ? It does nt make sense.

I think we could be fed the same rubbish like we was in Iraq,Afghanistan and Libya so we may go in and invade. Then the place would be turned over and left un governable with terrorist gangs in power fighting amongst themselves.

But this time will be different if there is opposition from the above.

Do you think the stage is potentially set for a world war?

Should we be worried if things got out of control there in the Middle East or maybe not?

What do you think?

It's not going to cause World War 3 Stevie it'll just be another pointless exercise and a complete and utter waste of money.

A bit like that link you posted earlier. Social media is buzzing tonight with news of a massive explosion in Damascus. Mainstream news outlets will only broadcast what they are told to air and it's the sub media and social networks that are publishing the cutting edge news - people on the ground in Syria etc..

Just read that Saudi may offer an oil deal to Russia if they keep their noses out of Syria.

It's a mess.

We're barely a decade past a shining example of western powers, nay, our own government, constructing false evidence relating to middle-eastern governments use of weapons of mass destruction in order to give a justification for a pre-determined military intervention. There's a pungent smell of deja vu here, whatever the truth of the matter, and there's nothing any of us can do about preventing the inevitable use of UK resources in the upcoming war.

Ever since Assad started to wrestle back control of some of the areas gained by the rebels the 'west' has been itching for a reason to justify direct military intervention - it's so obvious. Again, rather than being honest about the real underlying geopolitical reasons for intervention, we get treated to 'look, the nasty man uses chemical weapons, he's so nasty isn't he little people? such a nasty nasty man, we need to do something about nasty men don't we little people? *pats public on head*.

me a war monger ,never ,and yes they must not be allowed to use chemical weapons, ever, where will it end if they're allowed to get away with it ? if the UN sanction action on them then so be it and it's not illegal ,any kannnt that gases it's own people deserve a slap or two ,don't you think

What if it transpires that it's the rebels that were responsible? Will we target the rebels and assist the Syrian government? I have my doubts. If we're half a civilised as we thought we'd organise peace talks and put whoever is responsible on trial, not jump straight in with violence. Look who is gunning for military action, the USA, the UK and France the usual bully boys.

We assist Assad?ha ha now that would be funny.we want him out so we can put our guys in.

Remember in Iraq the UN inspectors under Hans Blix looked and looked but could not find any weapons of mass destruction only chemicals the US had supplied to them to use against the Iranians by Saddam? Well eventually the Americans went in and lo and behold they "found" some.

They then went to war on this "evidence" without the UN backing along with the UK.

Well EXACTLY the same thing is going to happen here again....we the people have no say in the matter.....it s already been decided for us...

Call me naive but I do believe in the power of the people, I believe that if enough people made enough noise and went out with enough force they can make their voices heard. Max summed up the issue, most people don't care and just want to get on with their lives and are happy with their weapons of mass distraction. People seem to think that they deserve what they get, that they deserve to be dragged into wars, that they deserve austerity, that they deserve a double dip recession, well I don't think we do.

Russia has says it's military won't intervene, but a whole lot of shit will happen to us is we intervene. I think the intention is to piss Russia off so they will restrict their gas flow to us.The govt can then say we told you this could happen, and now we have to increase our fracking for gas. Then the big corps move in make billions of profit while artificially keeping gas prices high for the consumer.

You're naive pal!! Politicians don't listen to a word we say unless it suits their agenda.
Look at Blair, he actually stated he wouldn't listen to popular opinion, or populist as he called it. And then he sent our troops into a hell hole and made it worse.
Why are the Saudi's so keen for us to step in? What benefit to them? Maybe so they can brainwash a few more miliion sheep that the West are the great Satan, look what they did to Iraq and now do to Syria?
We have learned nothing. As said, we should be sending peace delegations in, getting the two sides to talk and at the very most have a U.N peace keeping force there. Not taking military action when the situation is as clear as mud!!
And, laughably, if we back the rebels, we'll be backing Al Qaida too.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Syria World War 3 on 12:05 - Aug 24 by Lord_Bony

It seems the Arab countries have their own way of doing things.

They work best with a father figure or brutal dictator in charge. At least it holds the country together as there is usually so much in fighting and disputes with different political and religious factions. Once that figure is taken away it falls into chaos with no one governing until the next one comes along.

That s how it s been for centuries. Who are we to go in and try to change it all to a western style democracy.? It won t work and will cost too many innocent lives.

As long as they don t bother other countries just let them get on with it and stay out.

We have armed the so called Syrian rebels and now they are infested with Al Quayda ready to take over the government there if Assad goes. The very people we have been fighting against we are now arming and funding...you could nt make it up....

Well when the Russians invaded Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia and the CIA heavily backed ad trained the mujahideen to fight the Russians. Osama Bin Laden was one of those allegedly taught. Those same mujahideen are now the Taliban whom we have been fighting for years.

It never ceases to amaze me that we try to imporse democracy on certain countries. It is not as if Democracy is perfect is it? It is the best of a bad bunch I suppose but does not work everywhere.

Many middle eastern countries have so many factions they can be impossible to run hence the likes of Saddam and Gaddafi seem to be the only types of rulers that work in those places. Leave them to it?

We can all be outraged about what happens in certain countries but we are selective. Zimbabwe is run by a clown and yet we do nowt.

I suppose a question might be 'if the actions of Assad, as unimaginably horrendous as they are, don't affect the security of our country, why should we get involved?'

You Stupid Boy!

We never learn.
Arabs don't do democracy and will turn against you.
This is going to be a bloodbath and we are walking right into it .
Egypt got rid of someone they despised only for those who did then turn around.

Stay the feck out
If Assad is killing his own ,he wont be the first leader to do so and not the last.

The problem is this is not a popular uprising by the Syrian people.

Most had a good standard of living before this and Christians,Jews and Moslems all got on well together.

We have stirred up this hornets nest by providing arms and training to the "opposition" who are made up mainly of mercenary scum on a payroll.
Al Qaeda and Muslim fundamentalists make up most of these. They would love the West to come in and help topple Assad for them so they could fill the power vacuum. Then Syria would descend into hell on earth and those arms we supplied would come back to bite us.

Russia has a large naval port in Syria called Tartus. They are sending a lot of heavy metal there apparently....

Well I don t think their on ours unfortunately...

There is no way Russia will allow Syria to fall because apart from sharing a border if they lost it they would lose their only port in the Mediteranean,Tartus.

They are sending out a very strong message here...to back off.

Yeah that is great news Stewie...

I am so proud of this country the way we are not like sheep anymore and we have a democratic process in parliament to stop any nut jobs as leaders dragging us into war.

The people of the Uk have spoken and WE WILL NOT be taking part in military action.

Now onto the real problem...Obama..
The Us has said it does nt care what NATO,UK or the UN defence council thinks, they are going ahead.the corporate media like Fox,CNN,etc are in full swing with their lies and propaganda.
