That depends on the time of crime they’ve committed, if it’s shoplifting, driving while disqualified, drugs they won’t tell the victims, but if , where the victim knows the offender they absolutely should tell the victim. The terms of the release scheme should prevent domestic offenders and violent criminals being released, but I suppose that will come down to what is a “violent criminal” as I can see 1 person with abh convictions has been released.

100%. The prison/probation or in some cases the local authority have obligations to house released prisoners, they should definitely be housed somewhere which minimises the chances of reoffending.

Stay safe out there on 21:01 - Sep 9 by SullutaCreturned | We need more prisons to keep the criminals locked up, that or we need many more police and associated resources to deal with the outcomes of these eary releases. Quite ossibly we need all of the above. Putting it together under this new government we are facing tax rises, a pensions raid, removal of the WFA putting many pensioners at risk if we have a cold winter and the early release of thousands of criminals. It's hardly a bed of roses under this new government, lets hope the longterm plan works or people will be praying the tories get their act together. Me, I hope people see the big picture, how UK party politics continues to ruin this country and that we need radical change if we are to see things improve. What would that change look like though? |
We could also stop criminals (or those who are going to commit crimes) from other countries from coming here.

I might take up a life of crime since it seems to pay well and there doesn’t seem to be any reasonable deterrent.

And where do you suggest they are housed (there is a housing shortage), maybe the Bibby Stockholm Barge could take some, but if it's deemed not to be suitable for illegal immigrants it wouldn't be suitable for criminals. Another alternative is Estonia, as they've offered to take convicts to help ease prison overcrowding, but of course that would be against their human rights, so there are not a lot of options left, other than hotels, but most of the empty ones are housing immigrants, and they will be there for some time. Not an easy answer, personally, I would make prisons such awful places, that no released prisoners would want to go back there.

Many of the released prisoners don't want to be housed where they told to go

Stay safe out there on 21:57 - Sep 9 by Robbie | Conservatives would not give a damn about the great unwashed as seen in their partying and actions during COVID , they were going to kick them again at any cost . What grinds my gears is Labour preaching they are a voice for the people . Voters then casting their vote under the premise of a better Party to represent them . The working man has rightly or wrongly in the past trusted Labour to look after the Red Rossette voters , they have been Labour all their lives , they expect better . That ideology has now gone south in a matter of weeks . Is Stamer going after the off shore accounts and big business profits , nope . Lets get the pensioners to buy more blankets and be frugal with their heating . Just to add balance I am a OAP and will probably lose me allowance this year , I can take the hit and not a problem , many others will not be so lucky . [Post edited 9 Sep 22:03]

How do you know if they are going to go after the offshore accounts and big business profits ? The answer is you don't. Why not wait and see what they do in the budget.

Danger comes in all forms, single mother burgled by some scummy lowlife can have a huge mental impact on someone's health. You ever been burgled ?, if so I don't suppose you just laughed it off as one of those things that happen.

You don’t think YOU don’t THINK Ergo, you don’t KNOW. These are career criminals Imagine being a victim of a crime by these rats and seeing their release into the arms of “ loved ones” and collected in 70k cars It’s shameful

Sometimes,I despair for people. We have effectively given up against those who cause society pain I don’t see an answer We have more concerned with the welfare of prisoners and their scum families than victims

And what’s sad is the fact that in Starmageddon, these released cons are being replaced in a couple of cases by those who’ve just said a bit too much on facebook! Doesn’t make sense.

I don’t think inciting people to commit violent disorder, set fire to buildings etc is just saying a bit too much on Facebook. Most if not all of those who’ve been sent down have pleaded guilty to the offence and deserve their porridge.
