Was Fred's nickname Dave the sub too? I'll never forget the first time I was at Loftus Road and actually heard someone shouting: "Go on Dave!" at Agyemang LOL | |
| "Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1." |

Back then, 'Freds' on www.qpr.coocoocoo.uk were called 'Wheldons'. Pigeons used to fly between posters conveying messages. Its why Tottenham changed their name to Spurs, because of confusion with their then name 'Spores' and those chaps at www.mushroom.coocoocoo.uk [Post edited 2 Aug 13:29]

Early Edwardian Football message boards needs further exploration. From day one they were defining their fan bases. Imagine those first QPR pigeon-sent messages: ”Where are we playing Saturday?” “We’re at home ain’t we” “And where the fcuk is that these days?” “Well last one was at the Scrubs but I’m hearing next one is Kensal Rise” “Nah mate it’s Latimer Road init” “Oh FFS leave it out” “Take a relaxing greased pessary me old mucker at least it’s not Shepherds Bush” “Haha Shepherds Bush. LOLZ - even me pigeon’s laughing” Fulham, on the other hand, rather than pigeons, would have employed gangs of young boys (idle since the Chimney Sweep Act of 1885) to ferry their messages. These boys known as Putney inanity handlers, or Panhandlers would soon riot after being mercilessly overworked during the great chatter of the red trouser embargo of 1903. And what of Chelsea and their supporters you may ask. Well they didn’t even exist. What a time to be alive. [Post edited 3 Aug 11:19]
