I’m of the opinion that if the club were in a financially soluble state, he would have never been given the job on a permanent basis. But he can’t be here beyond the Summer.

This is awful on 08:33 - Mar 10 with 4461 views | Dalenet | In his rambling poost match interview, where he never says why he thought we were poor, Jim was mentioning the club uncertainties and that cuts were still being made. Does anybody know what they have lost over the last week or so that was affecting player morale? Have they lost facilities, coaches, travel or overnight stays? I'm of the opinion that the club needs a big clear out over summer and with a new investor we need to rebuild throughout. Yesterday should have been a day of great hope and expectation. Instead it was just depressing. Entertaining it was not. And some of the Boxing day attendees that had been coming to games sat near us have now stopped coming. Can't blame them to be honest. Not sure I will spend another £70 on petrol to watch that again on Tuesday.

The problem was, even if we’d won 5-0 yesterday with a performance like the Wealdstone game, there was still a real feeling of uncertainty around the club. The EGM might have given a route forward to secure investment, but it also managed to create further doubt and demoralised many. It doesn’t excuse how bad that performance was though, and that the selections and set up continues to baffle. The club, at present, is in a right mess.

KH took Scunny down & down in charge until they sacked him remembering they had R Luke in the team as well… My opinion, ride the crest of uncertainty, if we remain a club then staying in this league is the number one focus this season. This is awful on 10:21 - Mar 10 with 4110 views | 49thseason | Its been lacklustre since January 1st. Heavier pitches, darker days, longer nights, colder weather miserable wet days. It affects training, mentality, morale and has had a similar effect for several seasons. The fixture list gets busier, just when ideally the players need a week in the spanish sunshine. Add into this mix the problems at the club, late salary payments, a seeming inability to think out of the box and do something different rather than traipsing into Manchester every day and break the routine. Unfortunately we dont have an alpha male leading the pack, JB is thoughtful, considerate and a decent bloke but.... he isnt a Flitcroft, a Wilder, or the sort,of,"up and at 'em" character that you sometimes need. Yes there have been too many injuries, seemingly far more than my memory is capable of recalling, yes we have a young squad, yes we lack some real attacking intent. But when the going gets tough.. you just have to roll your sleeves up and fight back, I saw two teams yesterday one fighting and scrapping, the other sticking to its formula and reluctant to shift gears. I think we have enough to avoid the drop but adding some fight would help, defeat is catching, you get used to it. As a club we have accepted defeat too often without a murmur. We need more leaders on the pitch, the training ground and around the club, winning , like losing is a habit. We now need to set-up the whole club to start a new mentality and start being the winners. Whoever now takes over, they have a classic management problem to solve. Creating major attitude shift is hard, we have a 117 year anchor to uproot. Survival is not enough, the fans, the club and our town need to have a success mindset. Its time to stop the "little Rochdale" attitude and develop some " can do " instincts and apply them. I sincerely hope whoever takes over recognises the scale of the problem and has the will, energy and character and above all cash to enact the major changes that are needed so urgently.

If we had a vacant manager position don't kid yourself, there would be shit loads of applicants, again other folk who also have "mortgages, families and bills to pay"... you don't just stay with someone because he has "heart" in the club, his primary function should be the skillset to manage a football team bdb, surely? It feels as if an element of panic is setting in on this thread. If we avoid relegation by goal difference this season it will be mission achieved. I think the squad is good enough to achieve that if they apply themselves. Unfortunately the BJ experiment has clearly failed as this is a results business. A different approach is needed moving forward and the investors will recognise this. Hopefully there can be an ongoing role for him at the club as he does have many other qualities. He possibly would have worked well with a Director of Football as selection and tactics do make a difference. The players must also take some responsibility for our predicament. We are full time professional on contract and struggle against semi-professional outfits packed with journeymen in a fairly average league. Things can only get better - hopefully on Tuesday. Forget entertainment and focus on getting the job done with Clayton and Keohane in the side.
This is awful on 11:17 - Mar 10 with 3914 views | WirralDale | Was at the game yesterday with others, standing in the Sandy as usual. We began well, with a goal, then fell apart in the middle until towards the end. Yes, it was frustrating to watch at times and there were some unhappy fans. However, does it help the team to boo and hurl insults? It will only drain any confidence in the players - especially younger players like Brooks. Okay he made a couple of errors, but none of the team walk on the pitch wanting to play badly. Even Liverpool players make mistakes! Perhaps the pressure of desperately wanting a win and expecting those visitors to attend yesterday had an impact.. Keep the faith, get behind the team (and Jim - who is still a newbie remember) as best you can. Encourage rather than insult. Just my opinion. Up the Dale!

Managers are not cheap pay wise, only a select few know the details. If he was doing that bad overall we would bottom of the league

This is awful on 12:59 - Mar 10 with 3614 views | SaxonDale | Whilst Brooks’ distribution was poor yesterday- and isn’t anywhere near the standard of Moulden’s- I thought his slow release in the build up to their first was completely down to Jez. Brooks had the ball in his hands and spotted Jez- who seemed neither alert to the potential of a counter attack or interested. Jez simply did a light jog with his back to the keeper similar to what Wayne Evans would do at times when getting back into position and definitely not looking to receive or run onto the ball. Mentioned it briefly yesterday and I think it would be unfair to compare Jez’s work with the ball compared to Hayes as we’ve arguably got the best winger in the league. However his work off the ball in terms of showing for it and making runs for players to pass to was absolutely nowhere near good enough. I would be very surprised if he features on Tuesday.
This is awful on 14:39 - Mar 10 with 3367 views | Brierls | It was a dreadful performance. Blame the off field stuff all you like, but that was a group of players completely limited by how they’re being asked to play. Oxford City are dreadful. They nearly walked away with 3 points. Just because we're not bottom of the league it doesn't equate to him not doing "that bad"..... for the players he has at his disposal, the facilties he's provided with, the budget etc he's Massively underperforming and on recent form you'd struggle to find many worse in the whole of our league, that's the lowest level we've ever been at for over 100 years, I'd probably say that's a little worse than "not that bad"

This is awful on 06:44 - Mar 11 with 2572 views | James1980 | But if he was that bad we wouldn't have accrued the points tally we have done so far. There is clearly something wrong after the enforced winter break but I'm not sure how much blame can be laid at Jim's door. We don't see what happens in training, or hear the team talk before the game or at half time. I'm sure he doesn't say just retain possession even if that means not playing a forward pass. I'm not sure why there is an obsession in basically wanting a bully in the dressing room. Apparently EBJ possessed such qualities and he couldn't have been accused of motivating the squad.

Whos mentioned they want "a bully in the dressing room"? I wouldnt mind a manager that during a game can realise that things clearly aren't working and make a change preferably before the game is left to run away from us, or even someone that's a bit more honest about a performance when it's absolutely dire rather than how "brave" and "proud" he is of the team. Or even sign a keeper that's main talent is keeping the ball out of our net. A possession based game with a bad habit for overplaying the ball across your own back line is probably not the best idea on a heavy pitch in the middle of winter either.

Perhaps I'm conflating the criticism that Jim is too nice with wanting a manager that is a bully.

If the new owners came in and said we are leaving things as they are because the fans seem to think “we are not doing to bad” there would be an uproar. If hovering above the relegation places in the National league is deemed as ok then we might as well shut the club down now. If we have any ambition we need to change the manager and start making trying to win games a priority instead of being obsessed with possession based football. [Post edited 11 Mar 12:47]
