RIP Sir Michael Parkinson 19:47 - Aug 17 with 1096 viewsnoah4x4

Cricket, and indeed UK sport generally, has today lost an outstanding ambassador, and the ultimate broadcaster and celebrity interviewer.

I was privileged to meet Michael on a few occasions through the Lord's Taverner's and other charitable activity to which he generously gave his time and support. He loved Barnsley FC and Yorkshire CCC. A proper supporter and passionate enthusiast for achievement in any field, be that sport, the arts or other.

I was touched by his final words exchanged with celebrated umpire Dickie Bird, which I share below....

Yorkshire's greatest son? RIP.

Apparently, one of the founding signatories of the Anti Nazi League too - agree with everything you've said Noah.

RIP Parky - I bet him and Ali are having a rare old time right now

I find the idea of Emu taking on St Peter at the Pearly Gates quite amusing
