Watching the Ladies or Girls play is more relaxing that watching the mens game, probably less pressure..

Anyway it is nice to read about a local lass making good...

If Barca splash out then she must be good....

My all time favourite Dale player Mr Lyndon Symmonds

Yes and no doubt they knew what they were getting….unlike their rivals Real Madrid maybe who just splashed out to sign Sam Kerr……thats the Scottish Sam Kerr not the Aussie superstar!

It's Bayern that have signed the Scottish Sam Kerr.

Tangled up in blue.

Who's just had some bl00dy awful luck and been stretchered off a bone dry Oz pitch - those bad knee ligament injuries can take up to a year to come back from. Sad sight that.

A sad sight indeed. Do hope it isn't too serious and it was precautionary but it didn't look good.
What a great first 20 minutes from England, but in the end only just managed the three points. the spark of the Euros has deserted them for the moment.

Terrible for her & for the team. She's such a key player.

Not an ACL injury despite appearances. I'll gladly take custard with my slice of humble pie 🥧 😋

Aye, but it appeared the pitch hadn't been watered. Even Spotland gets watered and you know how wet it is here! Check out Lauren James knee slide, for her goal celebration b4 the injury - she went 2 yards then nearly face-planted. The "skiddy" surface is mainly prepared for player protection to try to help minimise injuries, but also helps keep the zip of passes at a high tempo, which should help the Lionesses and other passing teams.

Hopeful news about Walsh

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/66419943

Whether she plays or not, with Germany gone and USA knocked out today, we'll never have a better chance

The system we played against China in Walsh's absence worked really well, so that gives us added flexibility in games if she can at least make the bench

Your namesake was a bit nawty Jimbo......England got really lucky but we're still in it.
Really surprised how well the Nigerians played and should have won.

No easy games now.

An absolutely wonderful achievement to reach the final.

A superb performance which I back to go the other way when Kerr scored that screamer but the reaction from England was fantastic. Proper bottle that!

And we have Lauren James back available for the final!

If I hadn't seen such riches, I could live with being poor

I could be wrong, but I'm guessing LJ only makes it as a sub.

Don't get me wrong - when I saw a cameo of her playing about 1/2 an hour as a sub before the WC I thought WOW - how can she not be starting, and you could see she had something special? I just think Serina will go with the "don't change a winning team" philosophy. If so, LJ's hard lesson she's learning might just become even harder.

I would agree with that, especially with Ella Toone having played as well as she did today.

Another dale link to todays World Cup final, is Alex greenwood. When jack O’Connell was at dale she was a regular at every home game. Very young scouse girl at the time, but sat next to Her a few times in the hospitality section, where the WAGs congregated.

Good luck to her today, I had no idea she was a footballer at the time.

Jack has now retired through injury, pity for the lad.

He and Alex met at school so long term partners. She had a good game today .

They're good friends with Steph Houghton and Stephen Darby too, seen them training together a good few times locally

Is Stephen Darby doing well against that horrible illness, I lost a really good friend to it last year and he, like Stephen was an athlete and in excellent health.

Don't want to play the sore loser card, but I didn't see an announcement from FIFA to say that kicking the ball away to waste time is a bookable offence unless you've just been booked for kneeing a player in the face - then it's punishable with a huge smile.

Shame we fell at the final hurdle. Spain were the only team I saw compete at the same level as the lionesses and I would argue even harder in the final (though we didn't lose from lack of effort). Their goal-scoring record was admirable. Tough one to take but I hope we can bounce back from it.
