Sunderland fans to be in the home stands. on 22:39 - Mar 15 by rochdale_ranger | I’m not in the know and I don’t know whether or not the new board and CEO will be a positive or a negative but the level of criticism on here over the last few weeks has been over the top and petty. |
By your own admission you don't know much about any of them nor if they are a positive or negative for the club, without knowing a thing about them how can you judge if the criticism IS proportionate or not then?

Sunderland fans to be in the home stands. on 22:50 - Mar 15 by sykeboy | Good for you ,I can tell you my comment is not out of spite but real disappointment how I’ve been treated with no real thought given to the inconvenience caused to exiles |
I never intended to point the finger at you Syke and sorry if you took it that way I accept you and others have a genuine gripe at losing a seat that you have paid for, my comment was at those who scrutinise David Bottomley whatever he does or say to find fault. The Trust have a good relationship with him suggests he is open to dialogue with the fans representatives and is prepared to listen to their concerns.

Sunderland fans to be in the home stands. on 06:56 - Mar 16 with 3706 views | smaclad1 | While the enforced move is irritating, it's nowhere significant enough for the toys out of the pram whinging earlier in this thread. Security issues - we have to assume/hope that all bases are covered here, and given the events of the Bradford game and the lead in period to this they 'should' have all bases covered. Having said that, I'm more relaxed about sharing the stand with Sunderland fans than I would be with the assorted rabble from, for example, our neighbouring teams. Bogs, refreshments etc - if the stand is full, it doesn't matter whether its full of home fans or a mix of home/away - there is still the same number of bogs and refreshment stands. And I assume Studds will be home fans unless the Club have chosen to keep it closed on security grounds…? What irritates me more, and it has been covered in part earlier, is the short lead in time for fans. For those non-local supporters we get one opportunity to change our tickets. The Scunthorpe games going to be a pain in the arse - people trying to buy matchday tickets clashing with ticket swappers. We sit in a group of four - three of us are non-local coming from different directions, and one local. Because we are unlikely to meet up before then, we are either having to get up there very early, or end up queuing and leaving late - this could all have been announced several weeks, if not months ago One query I have. I have a season ticket with an allocated seat. To be perfectly honest I would be happy enough with a season ticket without an allocated seat, but that's another matter. However, it says in Bottom's letter that tickets go on open sale on Monday 25th. Does that mean if I have not obtained an allocated seat by that date they are going to sell my place? That my season ticket is therefore worthless for that match? I have paid to go in and surely they can't sell 'my' ticket?

Because they have been in the position for a matter of a few month and the stuff people are moaning about is minor (tyres, scoreboard, price fixing scandals at toy companies) and stuff that people used to me an about when Russ green was in charge was pretty minor (pies, gala dinners, the tannoy man) let’s see how things go. It’s early days yet.

I think the communication on the OS makes it clearer. You have all day at the Scunthorpe game to change your ticket and they will stay open til 7.30pm after the game for you to do it so you don't need to get there early. They won't sell any Pearl St tickets to others before then. If you can't get to the ground before the 25th they are asking you to call them. I suspect they will leave seats available for any season ticket holder that hasn't changed before the 25th. But if it is allocated seating then you will need to swap it some point so a call to the club would be the option for those not at the Scunny game One question. They will charge the Sunderland fans £22 for the Wilbutts. Can they charge them £22 for Pearl Street or will they get the Pearl Street price? As they sell seats to members only they may well be able to see Pearl Street tickets to families only. Just a thought.

I'm not sure it's a case of knowing more, more of an inclination to maybe consult the folk it will actually affect rather than just viewing things as purely from the club's aspect. You'll know all about giving an opinion on things you actually know not very much about though....

What i'm suggesting is that those who rely on "the authorities knowing best" have been proven sadly wrong Failing to consult properly is a failure of governance. I've witnessed it at first hand many times in my career, and the refrain "lessons have been learned" rings more hollow every time it's trotted out Mixing rivals fans in an area not designed for safe segregation is a damned foolish risk, and unnecessary, especially when there are alternatives which would involve a section of ground designed with segregation in mind But don't worry kiwi, just carry on with your cheap shots from a great distance, missing the target and the point every time

There was no cheap shot intended its in your head. I simply thought you're reference to Hillsborough was way way over the top and still do, however you have raised well reasoned concerns just why you feel the need to take a personal cheap shot from a distance ffs is beyond me but does not surprise me. Your post about people who express concerns on this forum was about as abject as we've seen. You needed putting right about that, and i did so What time is it in NZ btw? Go to sleep, and think on

Is it possible to have a conversation with insulting me?... thought not. Genuine concerns have been expressed regarding safety I would expect those concerns have been fully looked into by all parties concerned in the decision. Has the decision to accommodate extra Sunderland fans put the safety of both sets of supporters at risk for a few extra quid without any risk assessment. Am I that gullible to believe that Sunderland police have been involved and that also that they will have a presence at the ground to advise GMP. Am I to expect carnage when Sunderland visit? I sincerely hope that we will not be having an inquest post match other than the outcome of the game. edit to add … when did Sunderland acquire the reputation for violence at away matches? If this was Millwall or Leeds then I also would have serious concerns myself however I'm sure that the GMP would not sign off such a proposal if it was any club with a history for violence, If it was Oldham or Bury we would not be having this conversation. I believe the police don’t come into a ground now unless a crime is being committed, the policing of sunderland fans will be left to stewards and if you’d seen our stewards you’d understand the unease of some posters. I don’t think the moving of a seat is that big of a deal, the safety concerns however are. It’d only take 100 sunderland idiots to get a ticket for the 500 in the family stand and it would turn nasty.
