https://www.daletrust.co.uk/2019/01/meeting-at-the-club-3rd-jan/

Just to add that there was nothing that could not be brought up. It was an very open and honest meeting as I wrote, and I think I brought up most of the issues / concerns from here over the last few days. If I've not covered it, it was down to time constraints (meeting took close to 2 hrs) and should not be seen as being evidence of proof, so apologies to the Biggins Conspiracists.

Thanks for taking the time and effort to have the meeting and publish the outcome Col.

I don't think I am alone in hoping that after this and the upcoming forum, fears will be allayed as much as possible and we start to sail into calmer waters. If the transfer window also brings a revitalised squad and improved fortunes on the pitch the Unity unicorn may even become a reality?

Is all ever well with anything, anywhere. And even if the stars do occasionally align, do they stay that way? Genuine question.

Yes it's like stories on here appearing about Keith not taking training or falling out with players - like either of those never occurred when we were in the top 10 and winning more games - but now they are being used as a ploy to shit stir.

The first question I'd have asked regarding the trouble vs Bradford; is why on Earth did the CEO and the GSO not get the police involved. It went on for a good 20 minutes, and the stewards clearly couldn't cope.
On the way out of the ground (as Bradford scored their 4th goal) there were several dozen police officers immediately outside the Willbutts, and they could have been inside the ground in seconds if authorised.

We got very lucky here...it could have resulted in serious injuries or worse.

I would also thank Col for meeting with David. Hopefully this will now be a regular occurrence and a more open relationship with the club can be formed.

A few points, Col.

The away stand wasn't full last Saturday. There were over 1000 empty seats, as the Bradford following was given as 2507, so was there a real need to open the section nearest to Pearl Street?

When I drove past the ground the other day, the fixture board said tomorrow's game was on Wednesday 5th January. It may have been changed since.

Thanks to Col for raising these issues at the earliest opportunity. The CEO has now nailed his colours to the mast in terms of the stories that have been circulating in recent weeks. They have now been debunked and that is the point at where the line in the sand should be drawn.

We can assume that from now on, any such rumours can be considered wholly untrue. We have his word on all matters raised. That should be sufficient.

It is heartening to hear that rumours of non-attendance at training sessions by the manager are also false and that morale remains high within the squad.

From a personal point of view, I have always believed that to be the case. Whilst we can never be privy to dressing-room conduct/friction (if it even exists), you can see from goal celebrations what the reactions are, on the field and from the bench. You can't fake that spontaneous 'esprit de corps'. Hendo winner v Blackpool as an example. It is however a workplace and like all other workplaces, there will always be differences of opinion and finger pointing when things are going awry. Nothing unusual about that.

I'm sure Keith Hill is every bit as frustrated and disappointed as many supporters are - and so he should be. It's his job. That doesn't mean that the guns should be trained on him. The onus is now on him to 'shape-shift' the pack effectively and turn things round. We aren't that far away, but the job of a manager is about the good and the tough. We've had far more good than tough, MUCH more, so let's get it into perspective.

There are many unemployed managers, as there always is, each having failed in their previous employment. Our current manager has been the architect of the best times this club has ever seen. He has overseen the greatest successes we have known.

I simply don't understand the clamour from some quarters to dispose of his services. For who to take over. A previously proven failure ?

This manager deserves every opportunity to get us back on course and to improve performances and results. That should be AT LEAST until the end of the current season, regardless of the situation come May. We owe him that chance at the very least.

Did anyone expect the new CEO to say yes there are problems at the club?

I dont expect this ‘everything at the club is fine’ response to be accepted.by many.. maybe Hart is an outlier not including the boss in his message of thanks.

If everything is rosy and there are no personnel issues then the playing squad must really be a crappy, albeit happy, bunch given the last two results.

Things dont seem to add up.

How do we effectively dispute what the CEO says ? There has to be an element of trust and acceptance of what he says.

He says 'things are fine'. Maybe that's because Hart has left, maybe that has nothing to do with it.

Just on the issue about training sessions:

Managers will have plenty of other business to attend to and their presence at all, or even most training sessions isn't necessarily an indicator of commitment or engagement. The important thing is that they've established a rigorous routine and keep their finger on the pulse. And we all know what's meant by "presenteeism"

Dave Bottomley didn't comment on the presence of the manager at training, but that it was "...at the heart of his work..." [to quote Col's report]

That's the important thing, and i don't think anyone but troublemakers would see it any differently

Thank you, Pinky, for all of that. Appreciate the time and effort taken.

Good to read the aftermath of the Bradford inquiry, especially noted that the tyre etc are being moved. Well done the Club.

Nice to note that the club are always keen to adhere to rules - is this from the Russ/Hartlepool experience, or some other infraction? Nevertheless, encouraging to put it in the public domain.

It is still rather galling, though, that the Biggins rumour was not addressed in any way, shape or form. We can only surmise that there is no smoke without fire.

Hi dawlish,

That might have something to do with who pays for the Police. From memory, might be wrong, the club pay for any presence in the ground and the Council Tax payer for outside.

Therefore could be ticky-box stuff. If Police have not been requested inside the ground they might not enter (ridiculous hey) because they're only (mainly) working in a public place and therefore funded by CT.

Interesting though, would they have entered if it was obvious that there really had been serious injuries? (Not doubting your original concerns btw).
