Huw Jenkins question ? on 07:40 - Apr 1 by STID2017
Yes Ithought the same thing. He has aged and looks ill. I know some think money is everything but it isn't health and happiness are far more important
He is so inward looking and parochial in his mindset he will never be happy, never be well and most certainly never live a full, life in contentment. His actions are eating him alive.

I tink your right and that he regrets a lot of things. He used to look a lot happier a few years ago. Sadly in his case, you takes your money and you makes your choice.

All this makes me wonder wtf happened to the whole thing of Landon Donovan advising JL & SK? He came out of retirement to play in Mexico this year so not sure how much 'advising' he could possibly be doing. Odd.

I know Huw and his family, as he used to live nearby. I don't have it in me to hate anyone, but I cannot defend his poor record as DOF. The time has come for the Yanks to appoint their own DOF, perhaps with Jenkins help. Then perhaps we can stop repeating the same mistakes of the last three seasons.
Why do you think he's a crap DOF?

Assuming the power lies with him, he failed to sack Monk and Clement soon enough, sacked Guidolin too soon. Failed to sign Joe Allen, failed to sign suitable players at the right time to cover midfield, rb and lb, as well as a striker, whilst making some expensive signings that proved to be poor Baston & Mesa spring to mind, whilst Wilf is still a wait and see). He also overpaid for Clucas, who I like, but record signing - really ? He also took too long to get players transferred out of the club who he must have known were going (Gylfi, Llorente, Williams and Ayew spring to mind) I feel he is like one of the chairmen of old playing Football Manager with the club.

Correct. But after all of his cluster fvck recruitment decisions, you still think that he should have a say in the recruitment of his own successor? Well done

In fairness, the decision to take a while over Siggy was not down to Jenkins. If the decision had been down to him he'd have left for £30m weeks beforehand.
Even when you think he might be right he's wrong.
Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Let's fact check this pile of tripe....
Assuming the power lies with him - IT DOESN'T...
he failed to sack Monk and Clement soon enough, sacked Guidolin too soon. - FAILED TO SACK MONK SOON ENOUGH? I WAS HAPPY WITH THE TIMING. FOR ALL THE BLOKE GOT WRONG (EMOTIONALLY JUST AS MUCH AS ANYTHING ELSE) - HE HAD STILL TAKEN US TO OUR HIGHEST FINISH.
HE WANTED CLEMENT GONE APPROX 6 WEEKS/ 2 MONTHS BEFORE HE WENT.
HE DIDN'T SACK GUIDOLIN - THAT WAS THE AMERCIANS.
Failed to sign Joe Allen - YOU CAN HAVE THIS ONE.
failed to sign suitable players at the right time to cover midfield, rb and lb, as well as a striker, whilst making some expensive signings that proved to be poor Baston & Mesa spring to mind, whilst Wilf is still a wait and see). - THIS IS JUST A GAP FILLER, SURELY, THERE'S JUST NOTHING OF SUBSTANCE IN THERE. ALSO, YOU'D SWEAR JENKINS IS THE CHIEF SCOUT HERE AND WE'RE OPERATING ON A PSG BUDGET.
He also overpaid for Clucas, who I like, but record signing - really ? - WE DICATE THE PREMIUM NOW, I SEE.... SO WE OVERPAID AND THAT'S "JENKINS" FAULT, YET EVERTON GOT A GOOD DEAL AT £45M FOR ONET TRICK AND £12M FOR 50P HEAD AND THAT SHOULD NEVER BE MENTIONED - AS THAT, SURELY WOULD GIVE POOR OLD JENKINS SOME CREDIT.
He also took too long to get players transferred out of the club who he must have known were going (Gylfi, Llorente, Williams and Ayew spring to mind) - AGAIN, THIS IS THE AMERICANS. ASK ANYONE AT THE TRUST FFS.
I feel he is like one of the chairmen of old playing Football Manager with the club. - I FEEL LIKE YOU HAVE THE INTELLIGENCE OF A DEMENTED GNAT.

I wasn't actually defending Jenkins there mind. His lack of spine when negotiating transfers with other PL chairmen has cost us a fortune.
Says a lot when the first time (other than the contractually obligated £15m for Allen from Liverpool) we've got actual market value for one of our players is when he wasn't allowed to bend over and let himself be shafted like usual.

I know you wasn't, at least I did when I read it back earlier.
There's a line I guess, and no-one gets it always right.
Somewhere in the middle would be best, between Jenkins' taking the first offer and the ridiculous hard ball we saw in the Summer.
For all my years of criticism of him though, come on, anyone with half a brain and an ounce of fairness would say it wasn't exactly an easy job juggling our resources and keeping us up 6, hopefully 7 seasons.

There was nothing ridiculous about it. We set a price and Everton took forever to pay it. Maybe setting a deadline would have worked better, but you live and learn.
The problem with Jenkins is that so many of our problems have been self inflicted. You don't replace Laudrup with Garry Monk. You don't replace Guidolin with Bradley (don't give me that "it was all the Americans" bollocks. It's clear they rely on Jenkins for advice). You don't replace an adequately staffed and resourced scouting system with a reliance on agents.
Bad decision after bad decision has been made, and we've been clinging onto Premier League survival with our fingertips when it never needed to be so difficult as a result.

Beautiful J though I’m not sure why you’re bothering.
Stroll on the next transfer window and we’ll need to sell Mawson to fund players coming in.

I'm afraid all of that is right. It was also quite clear with hindsight that Jenkins was spending more time on completing a devious deal to sell the Club in preference to doing the job he was getting paid £40,000 plus a month to do. To the detriment of the team as well. How low can one man sink?

If selling Mawson provides the £30-35m needed to strengthen the team enough to survive next season then so be it. We're fairly well stocked at CB, although obvious doubts remain as to whether the Jenkins/Leadbeater combo is adroit enough to spend that money wisely.
Last thing we need is to be in hock to the Americans.

Of course it was the Americans, have you lost your mind?? You seriously think Jenkins, who in fairness has been pretty damn shit hot at appointing managers, just thought fack it, let's go all YEE-HAA here and see what American coaches are out there, but not even the ones out of work, let's actually head hunt one from the second division in France.
Jamie?? Do you honestly believe what you've just said? I can't get my head around this.... like seriously FFS???
And no, you don't wait and wait and it was ridiculous, £40m / £45m who gives a fack, we needed to plan and Kaplan refused to take any advice, refused to take any facking calls.
Come on mate... JESUS!!!!
