Spurs at home on 09:28 - Jan 30 with 1815 views | KenBoon | The idea of any professional football team requesting a cup tie be switched, let alone a League One club, is at best tinpot and at worst cynical greed. If the pitch isn't safe then the game should be moved to a nearby ground where it is. If one cannot be found then the club should forfeit and deal with whatever consequences there are from that. Should we and Spurs progress and the club even suggests a switch, it'd be our lowest point. We'd become a cynical bunch of beggars who's sporting integrity could be purchased. So before people seriously start suggesting such a "common sense move due to the state of our pitch" (or greed as it's really called) they should remember this.

Spurs at home on 20:17 - Jan 29 by Bobbyjoe | I had in mind more Bobby Smith, Jimmy Greaves, John White, Cliff Dyson, Danny Blanchflower, TVOS. (Bet you never thought you'd be mentioned in that company!). |
Nice one there - Cliff Dyson. Did he go on to invent that vacuum cleaner ? I take it you meant Cliff Jones, the Gareth Bale of his day, and Terry Dyson, the jockey sized Spurs winger of days gone by.

point me in the direction of RAFC requesting the spurs game to be switched? The only suggestion of a switch was the wigan game, Home game 30th January Away game 24 February Put the away game on the 30/01 and the home game on the 24/02 Why you having a pop at the club for this? Does it not give the the pitch/groundsman another free week ?

I never said we had. I said there are fans - including people on here - suggesting it. Switching a cup tie would be totally different to switching the Wigan league matches especially as the two league matches are close together. That would give us time to work on the pitch (if the rugby match could also be delayed). That is common sense and doesn't hand advantage to either side or be motivated by money. Trying to switch a cup game is quite the opposite. I never had a pop at the club. I pointed out any club doing this is both greedy and undermines the game. It is also tinpot, which would be why other clubs with good home draws haven't been switching these games. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Spurs at home on 14:16 - Jan 30 with 1397 views | YadHoDale | There's a potential TV friendly story there (should we get past Millwall) with Harry Kane returning to the ground where he made his league debut. So maybe the BBC could fund a new pitch surface ... :-)
