I don't want to skind like a killjoy or out.

Today I took up my usual spot in the sandy to be shocked at a group of youth. The usual sort with the tracking and caps etc. They were so annoying chanting you don't know what you're doing at the ref every time the whistle went , and other annoying chants, even a very poor ginger chant at Lewington. They even sat down for large chunks of the game.

They were an embarrassment to dale today and I hope they're not about in the sandy long term. Otherwise I'll move my ST elsewhere next year. Even the dons fandango were mocking them the few I spoke to after the game. Some will say it's encouraging the team but I couldn't be motivated by that

Did anybody notice them today and thoughts?

" Don't judge things you don't know anything about, " They was being Cvcks and acting all green street in front of her, While ppl around was having a fag

I was one of the people speaking to her. We was talking about her sister who was ill through smoking. And she let us take a picture with her FC scalf. One lad thinks he is funny and has banter but it was nothing more. The women was really nice and mentioned how she had been to watch dale in the past. I think I would know as I'm the person you're speaking about.

The lady was speaking about how her sister is ill from smoking and mentioned how she has been to spotland the odd weekend in the past. She let us take a photo with her scalf and said why couldn't the Chorley fans be as nice as us.
One lad is abit childish and tried to be funny but nothing more.
And curzon Ashton one lad was pissed as it was his 18th birthday we have all been there. But thanks for judging anyway mate. We do appreciate it.

Last time I checked there were no laws about equality for hair colour. If there ever were then it really would be political correctness gone mad

And to your second point, I meant gingers on their own are not a race ie you wouldn't specify on a census form if you were ginger would you? They are still part of a race, white brown black whatever, and still equal to everyone else!

There are few people I would smack in the face. But you are one. Sorry.

Last time I checked there were no laws about equality for people called Luke. If there ever were then it really would be political correctness gone mad.

I meant Luke's on their own are not a race, ie you wouldn't specify on a census form if you were a Luke would you?

(Did I just get trolled?)

Who are YOU with?

Blimey. What a peculiar thread!

I noticed the group PHG, and was pleased 20+ lads had turned up to give encouragement to the team. I only wish a thousand more of them turned up.

I know encouragement to the team is often displayed in taking the piss out of the opposition, in particular individuals, picking on them for a perceived weakness - in this case being ginger!

Bloody Hell, when I cast my mind back to some of the abuse dished out back in the day this messageboard would go into meltdown!

Rewind to around 1991 - Gillingham goalie Harvey Lim was Oriental in name and looks. He got dog's abuse "wor you wor you wor you want" hollered the Sandy.

Circa 1995 - Torquay goalie Ashley Bayes was considered a shirt lifter for reasons unknown to me at the time. But The Sandy was very homophobic to the Torquay custodian.

Dagenham and Redbridge goalie Tony Roberts was often ridiculed about his weight - but gave back as good as he got.

And further back (and I can't remember his name - Ron Green?) in the 1980s playing in net for Darlo or Scunny was a keeper who had a nervous twitch. The abuse he got! Turkey neck, Christmas is coming to get you etc.

In the grand scheme of things Lewington got off lightly with some of the stuff I've heard over the years.

And I hope these lads all return on Saturday and bring all their mates with them.

And replying to someone saying "why the name calling pal" when all you're doing is taking the piss out of kids. Don't name call people yourself we all support the same team. And Id love to see you travel up from Blackpool to a home game every week.

I didn't feel like I was "taking the piss" I was offering anew opinion on some of that group who didn't appear to even want to watch the game at all (those that wrre sat down). Fair props if some travel home and away but some of your group shouldn't be sat down during the game pissing about on phones and not expect a few words said about them.

Anyways we are all dale anyways

I think Ron Green went down the Chief Exec route... sort of..

It was Paul Gregory for Scunthorpe.

Remember Kenny Allen, the Torquay keeper. Tall and skinny with long grey hair. He used to get some fearful stick from the Sandy.

Good days.

When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

Absolutely agree. We can't bemoan the lack of support, then start criticising those that do turn up.

Best away keeper to have a laugh has to be Russ Abbott, i mean Prudhoe when at Darlo. Proper comedian having a laugh & joke with us, Dale was 4-0 up away & Darlo missed a sitter to grab a goal back he just ran & did a belly flop in a puddle in the area. Absolute nutter but could take the stick.

Poll: Are fans more annoyed losing or not playing Henderson centre forward?

Sandy Lane youth on 18:47 - Aug 22 with 1745 viewsChaffRAFC

I wasn't at the game on Saturday it sounds like the same set of lads who were at the first home game, just to the left of the middle of the Sandy as you look out onto the pitch. And yes, I get that they're highly annoying at times, they're the new generation of singers and we were all like that at some point I'd imagine, or at least the majority of us. But, we're not in a position to wish we didn't have these fans and we need any fans we can get. The attendance tells you that much so may they continue to come.

And the point about not being able to sing songs about certain things or people is an absolute load of nonsense. If we start censoring certain topics, we'll have no bloody fans left. As Razz quite rightly says, players can take the banter quite well. It's a bit of name calling, if we eradicate this behaviour, we may as well all stay at home and have milk and biscuits.

Modern life is really s***, you can't say a f*****g word without offending someone! Get a bloody grip.

If I hadn't seen such riches, I could live with being poor

The Players will hear very little of this chanting in any case.....trouble is these days you cannot say anything without "offending" someone, group or religion.......it's crazy.

Agree that if these kids have turned up and paid their way in,just leave them alone and be miserable.
0

And we're these kids the ones who were chanting You're just a small town in Bletchley? One of them must have an A Level in Geography. Impressed me anyway. (Unless I misheard)

The worm of time turns not for the cuckoo of circumstance.
