I'd like to see Opta stats for Rose because I don't think they'd suggest he had a good game last night. That said, like most on here, he is worthy of a place in the team (but not undroppable) and he's in danger of becoming a scapegoat due to the manager's stubbornness.

With regards to the Main Stand moaning, well last night there were two females in there who think it's productive to scream, yes scream, "Come on Rochdale" and "get it forward" every twenty seconds. If you think that's a good thing, you've never sat near them.

Agree with all of that barring Rose had a good game. Apart from a 10 minute spell in the 2nd half where he whipped some great balls into the box, he was very poor - especially when central.

Business end of the season now, and Rose shouldn't be anywhere near occupying a central midfield position. Cavanagh, Lund and Allen provide a very effective central 3, and in my opinion should be stuck with for a few games, introducing Kennedy as and when tired legs are evident.

Add to that list who should be ahead of Rose in central mid - Hery, who despite his inexperience has shown he can beat his marker and score a goal; in other words, make a difference. The fact he hasn't been given much game time obviously counts against him at the sharp end of the season.

I remarked when he scored his goal against Newport that going over to high-five Beech, while Hilly looked on stony-faced, probably didn't augur well for him and so it's proved.

I've nothing against Rose at all - quite the opposite - but to coin an awful cliche I do think his contribution in the centre is being viewed through rose-tinted glasses.

Poll: What are you planning to do v Newport
