Symons Joins As Assistant Manager Wednesday, 16th Jan 2008 17:03 Kit Symons has been appointed as Geraint Williams' new Assistant Manager, replacing Micky Adams who left last week.The former defender has joined the U’s with immediate affect, having left Crystal Palace in October last year, where he finished his playing career and took up a coaching role. The 36-year-old started his football career at Portsmouth in 1988 and went on to play for Manchester City, Fulham, as well as Crystal Palace, totalling 550 appearances and scoring 29 goals. He was also a full Welsh International, earning 36 caps and scoring 2 goals. During his non-playing career at Crystal Palace he had spells as a First Team Coach, Reserve Team Manager, Assistant Manager, and Caretaker Manager. The appointment of Kit Symons means that Joe Dunne, who temporarily stepped up to assist Williams last week, will now take up a new role as First Team Coach.
