The player the Swans have who could easily make it to the top Wednesday, 17th Jul 2024 06:41 by Keith Haynes With genuine concerns at the strength in depth of the Swansea City squad, despite two what seem to be excellent signings of late, head coach, Luke Williams does have a few gems ready to shine next season. The one player we believe, as do many Swans followers, is Azeem Abdulai. Featuring in just over 130 minutes of first team football last season in seven games, he most certainly displayed signs of real competency. He also featured in one FA Cup game and two in the EFL cup. Unfortunately he has been dogged by injuries, hamstrings and ankle over the past eighteen months, and of course this has restricted him massively. His slow return to fitness saw him feature in the recent 3-1 win against Swindon Town, and he came through that unscathed. That’s a great sign for a player with very decent pace and strength on the ball. We covered Azeem in May 2023 telling the story of his career to date. More to the point we delved into his agent and how he operates. If you search on our news section you will find thousands of news reports since we took over this website in 2020. We are all about concise football writing and giving the Jack Army well researched information on the club. Click —> ⚽️ The man behind Azeem We can see below his contribution is pretty decent with an overall score of 6.98. In June he featured in two Scotland U21 friendlies against Türkiye and Austria, and at centre back which should also reassure Swans fans he is more than capable in that position. He was yellow carded in both games down to his ferocious tackling. We saw that in the incident which led to Jerry Yates being sent off against Millwall during the last game of the season. Azeem offers durability and doesn’t shirk any challenge. He is a player who can easily slot in to a midfield role as well, some would say he prefers that position. And as he displayed in those Scottish June friendlies he is more than capable in a regular first team step up this coming season. It was his agent, Godfrey K Torto, who aided his smooth transition to the Swans after being released by Leicester City via his own academy in London. Torto was a Chelsea youth player. Azeem has a relentless work ethic and is one of those players we know Luke Williams loves to be with. A player who works hard every day, is amiable but still has that determination at twenty one to push on. He has to in a way, his season ahead marks his twenty second birthday, stamping his mark on the Championship is a must. We think if Azeem stays injury free he will get his chances, and that his reward will almost certainly be further international recognition. The many scouts who watch the Swans will be making notes for sure. And as you can see from the link above, Torto will be right behind him.
