Done gone Monday, 2nd Feb 2015 22:14 by Col Dale have sold leading scorer Matty Done to Play Off rivals Sheffield United for the usual undisclosed fee.
In a coordinated release, both Dale and Sheff United confirmed the deal at 10pm on Monday evening with just an hour left of the transfer window. Despite previous comments that no one would be sold, the offer seemed to good to turn down and Matty Done is now a Blade.
Twitter rumours suggest that the fee could be as high as £1 million for the former Barnsley man who had 18 months left on his deal. He leaves Dale with fourteen goals to his name this season, after a barren spell in front of goal last season.

Why Oh Why do we continue to sell players to our immediate rivals for the usual 'undisclosed fee'. Why can't we know by how much we have benefited? Are the club embarrassed by the size of the fee, or some other reason? As supporters, do the club not realise that without us, they wouldn't exist!!! For all the managers statements that it is good business, how can we judge the truth without knowing what value was put on the player? I am a realist, I know we have to sell, but it really bugs me that we are left to speculation as to the reward we gain for nurturing this talent!!!!

just seen in the Observer that Brentford are rumoured to have paid £200k for JOC. If we have received £500k+ for Done then why did we not go for JOC? Ok his wages might be a bit more than we normally pay but the £300k+ profit could supplement his wages for at least a couple of years. Without Done we will struggle for an outlet up front - we have nobody else with his pace and I hope we do not resort to Andrew and long balls into the box.

Six games in just four weeks, with four of them against sides also in the bottom six. By March we should be either well clear of danger, or even deeper in the sh*t. With Danny Cowley’s U’s still unbeaten, and looking stronger game on game, I’m sure it’ll be the former, but first we have to do our bit to consign Steve ‘Sour Grapes’ Cotterill’s FGR back to non-league. After our shambolic 5-0 defeat at New Lawn, nothing would give me greater pleasure, even if it meant losing one of my closest awaydays in the process. What’s the excuse going to be today Steve – shocking pitch, faking head injuries, Mexican banditry or some other bit of sour-grapery bullsh*t? Colchester United Polls |
