I did, you tried to pivot back to hospital beds but the point I stuck with was the one I originally picked up on which was solely in relation to care homes. “ But secondly, it shouldn't be all about government funded social care anyway. People are supposed to look after their own care” |

People like me? I’m 30 and frankly not in a financial position where I will be likely to rely on the state at any point in my life and have already paid far more back to the state than I have ever received from it. However, this does not concern me in the slightest, we live in a country where the vast majority see the benefit of a welfare state, as such since the NHS was created its functions have diversified and increased. As im sure you are aware if someone has a pension (private or state) then this accounts towards the cost of social care if they are not able to self-fund, so I’m not sure what your pension point is.
If you want to take a callous approach to care for the elderly then frankly the care home approach is a far fairer and better cost saving approach. By your logic the vast majority of people who still with elderly relatives alive would have to take on care of their relative, this would of course mean for a lot of people giving up jobs which I imagine you would love having more people on carer allowance and not paying into the economy! It would also prevent us from benefitting from economies of scale, rather than all of the food, medical care and nursing staff being available in one place it would have to be spread across multiple locations. I’m sure you will quip back with then at least the people using it would be paying it but frankly we all pay for it currently via taxes, at least this way we all share it rather than disproportionately putting it onto the people who are lucky/unlucky for their family members to live longer than they are self-sufficient. By the same logic that sometimes some people get very ill and have to have expensive procedures but we don’t charge them a tax surcharge.
So you have gone back to sending them away, in your Utopia someone’s lack of financial options equates to not enough love (i.e. not wanting them close), quite sickening really.
Let’s play your mindset to the end of life to the beginning of life, by the same logic parents should pay for their kids to go to private schools? And if they can’t afford for the private school fees then they should be taken away from the nasty poor people who dared not to love their children enough by not having the finances to prove their love and should be put in schools purpose built to house them in Scotland. I really hope you can see how horrible that concept is and then perhaps apply it to end of life also.
Of course the state is not being asked to do everything for everyone, it is being asked to supplement those who need care but can’t afford it, you are completely twisting it into something far more than it is. |

Ok firstly you want to send all the old people to Scotland because they have no family? What a nice way to deal with people towards the end of their life when things are starting to get difficult and confusing, ship them off somewhere else.
Secondly your plan for forcing people to look after their elderly relatives is illogical, of course governments would rather that this wasn’t paid for by the state but people don’t owe a duty of care to their parents/aunts/etc so how would this ever be enforced, the government just randomly assigns the responsibility of an elderly person to a nearest relative when they hit 65? What world do you live in, surely you know this is nonsense but just want to complain? |

Lots of headlines about Real Madrid boycotting the ceremony last night but they actually got best team and best manager awards so it begs the question if Saints were boycotting for Russell Martin and the team not getting these awards after getting 4th in the Championship and a hard fought point in the PL this season?
All jokes aside how pathetic does this make Real Madrid look, fair enough they won the league and champions league but players are measured individually and Rodri has only lost one game in the last 18 months with City and became a European champion. Vinicius Junior only played 26 league games last season, two thirds of a season surely can’t be the best player, Brazil also had a pretty rubbish Coppa America. |

Amazing how these behind the scenes people manage to control all political parties, the press, the legislature and the judiciary all so efficiently but fail to shut you up.
You must either be very brave or very stupid to out them so publicly, seeing as they manage to control all of the above it surely wouldn’t be too hard or too inconceivable for them to bump you off. |

I think we have all missed the point. I thought when SR bought us we were to be the crown jewel in their little group. I fear instead we were just brought into be leached off.
Goztepe are worth €18mil now, not sure how much SR bought them for (details don’t seem to be online) but I imagine a lot less given that apart from three teams in the second team division nobody is worth more than €8mil. We of course are worth €270mil (SR with of course €216mil of that). But I think the big difference is how easy it would be to make Goztepe double in value again compared to Saints. So looks like the SR model isn’t for improving all the teams, it’s about buying a PL team, letting it stay where it is (which is still nice and profitable) and then push on with the other teams in the group artificially using the PL team’s finances where it will not be noticed that much. |

I think unless we want to write him off as a bad investment there is also now a lot of pressure on the club to play him and play him heavily this season to prove the heart issue/ general fitness is not a problem so that someone else would pay good money for him. It will be interesting to see how long before he finds his way into the team come September |

Where are you getting that from? “No club or player shall be involved in a bridge transfer.” Is what I have found from the article reporting this, nothing about the selling team.
Presumably Saints did enough due diligence to know that Archer had already been transferred in this window.
Hopefully our lawyers know enough to have put an indemnity in the contract with AV for beach of the rules for any fine! |

Mine is short also and frustratingly the narrative could have been written by most fans before the game kicked off!
Armstrong could have had a hatrick in the championship but lacking composure/quality finishing for the PL.
McCarthy not playing the type of football he can actually play giving away the expected chance and frankly felt the shot itself was saveable. He managed to give this away in a 10 man game where we had the lion share of the possession, imagine what games where we are under pressure will look like.
Stephens shoe horned in and in my opinion from watching replays touches a ball that was going in which made it offside. |

I don’t have any knowledge of this but seems pretty weird Villa would have a buyback for less money than they sold a player for. Is it not more likely that Sheffield had the option to force a sale back of the player (hence it being less money) if they got relegated to help limit their liabilities for spending on promotion and potential subsequent relegation?
