Wishing all my fellow R's a very Happy Christmas and a happy and healthy 2025. Thanks Clive for all your splendid match reports and previews and for making this site such a happy and vibrant place.
That's really warmed my heart on a bleak Monday morning. We may be shit at football at the moment but you've just reminded my why I love our football club. Thanks for posting.
Yes, this would be a great ditty for JD. We need a little catchy song for all our favourite players, I'm sure it would make them feel more "connected" with the fans.
I like to watch Leatherhead FC, famous for the Leatherhead Lip, Chris Kelly, back in the 70's, but not much else since. Nice atmosphere about the place with a pleasant club house and bar.
The first time I saw Stan play he was playing for Carlisle in an end of season game at Loftus Rd which QPR won 3-0, but all the talk around me was about Carlisle's No 10, a certain Stanley Bowles. He ran our defence ragged that day. I remember someone saying that their No 10 looked just like a pocket sized Rodney. I was so excited when Gordon Jago signed him a few months later and I had the joy of watching his genius every week playing in the Hoops.
God Bless you Stan and thanks for the magical memories.
Rangers have played some lovely football in that first half but perhaps should have tested their 'keeper a bit more. When the ball is in the air the wind is playing havoc, for both teams.
Thanks for the memories Terry. you were a fantastic player for us and without doubt the greatest manager (and we have had a few good ones). You lifted the club to an entirely new level.
Andoni Goikoetxea, otherwise fondly remembered as the Butcher of Bilbao. His very name evokes memories of the dirtiest player who ever set foot on a football pitch. He had a particular hatred for Barcelona and all who sailed in her.
After last week, that result today was like winning the Champions League final. Great stuff from the entire team but special mention in dispatches for Armstrong, Fox and Cook. Well done lads!
I agree, but let's not forget that Willock was recovering from a serious injury last season and Richards was not "engaged" for the reasons we've heard about. Now, I get the idea of playing for the badge, putting a shift in, working your nuts off for the team etc, etc, but my best seasons watching QPR have been when we've had a maverick in the side, eg Rodney Marsh, Stan Bowles, Roy Wegerle, Adel Taraabt, Eze. I want to see players who will get me off my seat and excite me. If they're not tackling back and getting their foot in I really don't care as long as they're doing the business in the opposition's half. Willock and Richards can be those players in an otherwise uninspiring squad. For Christs sake, play them.
The manager must go and he must go now. He's totally out of his depth at this level. If you're leaving your best player on the bench because he doesn't fit into the manager's system, then the system is wrong.
I really don't understand the hate for Chris Ramsey, not just from you but from many on this board. He is a highly respected coach in the game and, as far as I'm concerned, an asset to our club.
What this club does to you! I was still praying we'd hold on for a point in the 7th minute of stoppage time. Brilliant result, and totally demoralising for the other teams in the mire with us.
