That discussion between McIntyre and Gallen was quite worrying as the things they knew about our signings appeared to be common knowledge. Gallen also made the point that scouts need to go to games to see the whole picture, as tv cameras follow the ball. Instead our methodology seems to be madness.
Our stats are terrible as usual. Our prospects for this season don't look good if we can't get back some of the senior players to rally the team. |

That was some serious money brought in through summer sales, but at least it sounds like Leeds have managed to bring in players to cover for the players sold.
Although he was never able to up his game in the Premiership Farke has at least shown that there is a role for Dothrakis in football. |

As Chris Charles said on Open All R's this week, most of us weren't expecting a relegation battle this season as we assumed that Cifuentes would be able to build on the results at the end of last season.
I really hope that Burnley performance wasn't a sign that we have completely forgotten how to score. Anyway, good to know that November is a month for turnarounds. |

Cook was outstanding, and we all know the stats on us not getting anything out of games when Clarke-Salter doesn't play.
Whatever misuse Parker is making of Burnley's resource, we ended up defending non-stop as we just could not hold on to the ball. But then as you point out, for all Burnley's possession and attacks, Nardi didn't have to make that many saves either. |

I am not sure how you do it all.
Once upon a time, not that long ago, there was only the real world of actual attendance. Now there's the online world which is in danger of slowly swamping the real world, particularly at the larger clubs where attendance is becoming Airbnb'd and season tickets holders are less vital.
I have never seen 'Planes, Trains and Automobiles'. I will keep an eye out for it. Up to a certain point in my life I never liked to rewatch or reread anything. However, these days I do use Netflix series that I have seen before to help me get to sleep. I think it's the comfort factor.
Hard to see us getting anything out of this one or any other game until we have some defensive strength in midfield. |

We looked very naive for the first goal. Even though Dembele's clearance was terrible, in the run up to the goal van Ewijk was completely unmarked and should have scored.
We were rope-a-doped by Coventry. They could pack their defence and hit us on the break, especially as our attempts to break down their defence weren't particularly effective.
Positives. Nardi kept us in the game. Saito seems able to go past anyone. Morgan scored, even if we got a bit lucky as the keeper misread where the ball was going (I think he thought it was going into the bottom corner). We got a point. |

It could be burnout, or perhaps PTSD, after several seasons of near death experiences.
We are looking lightweight. So far the balance of the team is wrong, the influx of attacking players has not being matched by players who can break up opposition play, or a player who can drive us from the base of midfield. It looks like we are stuck until JCS and Colback return. Having said that, we still need a result from somewhere. |

Waiting for the 'imminent eruption'. So that's what we are doing. I listened to the LFW podcast this week, and that was an emperor's new clothes moment when you said we were boring (something I didn't want to admit to myself). It's also a paradox, because we have signed a lot of attacking players.
Very hard to know when we will get going, but let's hope it's today. |

Not easy to do what Brighton and Brentford have done, particularly when everybody else wants to do it. The danger is that you copy the appearance without copying the essence.
I didn't realise our record was so bad against sides promoted from League One. Maybe that points to us wanting to play elegant football and not being able to handle 'up and at 'em' teams. |

Excellent strike from Drameh to get Hull into the game, although that's a good point that we didn't manage Hull's corners well (so gave him time and space to take the shot). With Andersen dallying and giving away the ball for Hull's second goal, it felt like game over at that point. As you point out, Millar was extremely effective against Santos.
Agree that we look lightweight against a lot of sides in this division. On top of that, as Marshy points out, we kept giving the ball away.
'Modern football teams being more willing to take a risk in their own penalty area than they are in the opposition’s'. Wasn't there was an interview with a QPR fan who had moved to Sweden and had watched Hammarby a lot, who warned us about this? |

It feels like we need something to get our season going. We were sorely lacking in creativity against Blackburn, even before Varane got sent off. We all hoped for more this season, with Cifuentes (hopefully) no longer firefighting like he was last season. A win would do the trick, but it's not going to be easy as Hull have picked up a bit of steam recently. |

It feels like every club outside the top six in the Premier League wants to be a development club. Perhaps they have all been driven mad by Brentford and Brighton.
'A development club without the development.' You have said for years we should focus on development, the club said it wanted to focus on development, but in practice we were never really able to do it, especially when there was any hint of promotion, when all plans would be thrown out of the window.
On the pitch, it feels this season we have ended up soaking up pressure for long periods. We have got away with it so far.
Agree we tend to struggle in games that we're supposed to win. |
