There was a defender between Anderson and the goal. So maybe that's why no red card? Maybe I'm being a bit harsh, but I think he could have easily stepped over the keepers trailing leg and slotted it in. |

A fair assessment. DC also thought that we were fortunate with the second penalty, after Gordon's challenge on the keeper. I think you've got the pens in the wrong order though! [Post edited 2 Jan 16:59]

It was Anderson who fell over for our first penalty. For our second penalty I thought the ref was going to penalise Gordon for his challenge on the keeper. And then Anderson fell over again with what looked like very minimal contact with the keepers foot, and an almost open goal beckoning. Maybe you saw more of Hoppers work than those of us watching on TV did - to me he looked ineffectual, posing no goal threat at all. But nice that his efforts were appreciated. |

Agree completely with your final paragraph. Egbo was hopeless today - he let the ball go over his head to an unmarked player for their second. We were way too open in the midfield when they counter-attacked, and the defence was jittery for most of the game. After the Doncaster match, DC was complaining about our pitch and before this one he was moaning about having a small squad. Not the right attitude, much too negative. And I don't think we can complain at all about the balance of the refereeing decisions. The sending off and the penalty just about capped off a dismal afternoon. Mid table will be the height of our ambitions. |

I think "a tough ask" probably sums it up. In his post-match interview Taylor said he's enjoying his football more than at any time over the last 5 years, so yes let's get him for next season. After being sceptical at the start of the season, he's completely won me over. On the subject of Tovide, in yesterday's match programme his injury was mentioned, but there was nothing said about him in the physios update. |

After two draws and a win, I think all the evidence points to a very promising second half of the season. We have sent a clear message that we are a competitive, well-organised team that will challenge any side, home or away. Am I being too optimistic in thinking that we are in with a chance of getting into the play offs? Up the U's! [Post edited 30 Dec 2024 9:58]

It was a bizarre way to get sent off, but I think he moved the ball away from the referee's mark at least twice. Asking for it really, and bone-headed as he already had a yellow. Still, we all loved it! I don't think Teddy's shot can be described as a curler - it was a half-volleyed screamer... |

However, they said it was scheduled to be open today. Let's see. Fingers crossed! |

I ended up speaking to someone at The Key Holding Company, who initially said they were not scheduled to open the park and ride on Boxing Day. They said they would check with their manager and then I got cut off.... |

I've done some detective work, which leads to a chain of responsibility ending with two private sector companies. So much for public services! |

Another fiasco at the park and ride today. After some supporters were locked into it in August, today everyone was locked out, as it didn't open before the match and no doubt hundreds of people were then left scrabbling to find somewhere else to park. The queue was backing up onto the A12, which was clearly unsafe. Completely unacceptable and Essex County Council looks unfit for purpose. |
