If we lose the next two games I think it will become very difficult to find a reason not to sack him. As people have eluded to it’s not just the results it’s the entertainment on offer. If they are trying to move the club forward and build the support I can’t see any option other than a change. If they pamper to Jim’s style of football much longer I can’t see us selling many more than a thousand season tickets next year but I suppose and long as SG is enjoying it that’s all that matters.
Trouble is he’s probably seen his mate BBM stood on the touch line at Old Trafford last night who has been rewarded for failure, do you think he actually cares about Rochdale ? We are a stepping stone to bigger and better things. BBM started the rot with this type of football and Jim’s just carried it on If the board are serious about improving attendances a change needs to be made sooner rather than later.
And yet for all the modern day nonsense it boils down to Walker taking a long throw in into the box. Percentage football at it best. Also we have a world class footballer who plays for England thank goodness.
If the new owners came in and said we are leaving things as they are because the fans seem to think “we are not doing to bad” there would be an uproar. If hovering above the relegation places in the National league is deemed as ok then we might as well shut the club down now. If we have any ambition we need to change the manager and start making trying to win games a priority instead of being obsessed with possession based football.
Early nineties I think with the class of 92 if I remember right Paul Williams had to go in goal for us. I think we won 3-2 it’s a long time ago that’s for sure I think it was a Lancashire cup game
Desperate men do desperate things, sounds like the pressure of all this has well and truly got to him. My bet is that we will be like a Grouse on the 12th of August open game for anyone. I suspect we will see every shyster and his dog turning up with a LOI We’ve nowhere to hide now.
Surely someone will work it out eventually that this type of football will take us further down the pyramid and drive the crowds away. When Keith was in charge playing his type of football even when we didn’t play well there was always a chance we would win because we created chances and he was prepared to gamble in order to try and get something out of the game. Without being entertained people simply won’t come to watch Dale it’s already slipped down the list for a lot of people due to economic pressures so it’s going to take something special for people to justify stumping up their hard earned cash to watch Dale. I think the Americans will make a change as I’m sure they will engage with the fans and be left in no doubt what people think about the product on offer.
I would also suggest he’s not being challenged by the BOD. I think if we had a BOD in it for the long haul then maybe they may question some of the performances especially the home ones, as I’m sure they would be making a serious attempt to try and encourage people to turn up at Spotland. I’m confident Dunphy would have had something to say to Keith if he had served up that type of display. There is absolutely no pressure on BJ from above to do anything as they are hoping not to be here much longer, their priorities remain in selling the club, not what kind of football we play.
I think planning for next season is impossible at the moment due to A. Not knowing who might own the club and would they want their own man in as manager ?
B. Will we still be here in August and if so what level might we be playing at ?
Finances will be stretched more than ever once the season ends.
Brilliant player for Dale I remember from a throwing the ball bouncing behind him he flicked it with his heal over his own head and the defender, would be shown on tv over and over again these days. Then he used to do the Country and Western night at the Kingsway Hotel. Him and Terry Owen were worth the entrance money alone. If only we had them now we would certainly be in the play offs.
It would appear the BOD are as naive at looking at potential investors as they are at running the football club its self. Can they actually be trusted to bring the right kind of people into the club ? I’m not that sure anymore. I think recouping their money has become more important than the survival of RAFC We find ourselves in a very dangerous predicament regarding the future of our football club. Can we afford to sit back and hope for the best ? Or is their anything we can actually do the prevent people like JNG from entering the club ? Not all people may be put off by people doing a bit of digging.
BBM used to reel that nonsense off every week when we’re in Division one. BJ’s just carried on talking the same old sh!te doesn’t mind losing when we play like that I never liked losing full stop ! Lets hope the new owners change the mind set and bring a winning mentally back into the club.
Perfect game next week to celebrate him. He was from an era when people from Manchester went to both venues. Not the same kind of people as we have attending football matches these days sadly Just MPOV of course 😞
They have no interest or appetite in running RAFC, it’s just a waiting game for someone to turn up with a few quid to pay them back. Don’t be so sure they won’t sell to just anyone. I think anybody willing to pay them the going rate will seal the deal regardless. I think thats were they are at right now. We are not ready for the season because I don’t think they thought they had to look that far ahead. They are not approachable people especially SG. It’s ok strutting around being RAFC chairman but you have to earnthe right to do that. I remember talking to Chris Dunphy in the Blue Ball just before Hill came back we spent a good 15 mins chatting and without him giving anything away he was quite happy to hear your thoughts and views. That’s what we were all about a friendly run club right to the very top. Now it’s us and them. Like I said last time the forums now are like being in the headmasters office for being naughty. You are told the way it’s going to be with none of your opinions even taken into consideration. I’m done with it all. You won’t see me anywhere near the place until this state of affairs is sorted out. Like I said before how can we not be ready for non league football ? It’s a complete disgrace !
Just a question Does this then mean if someone where to come along and buy them both out they would then get the key to the castle with no resolution in place meaning they could do with the stadium what they wanted ? All I’m thinking is that this is the stumbling block for any investor and by removing it opens the door for a free for all ? Hope I’m wrong but it may just be a last throw of the dice to off load what gas become way to big a job for them to handle.
Yep I meant non financial, how can a professional club not be ready ? We have had since May to get the ball rolling, I’m guessing he means back room staff ? We probably have one of the best training facilities in the league so that can no longer be an excuse when it comes to player fitness ? As we don’t need to beg when the weather is poor as the pitches must be top quality and we’ll maintained ?
