The Squad Is Stronger But Is The Team ?
at 00:41:46

Montecristo

We were bankrupt when KL's dad bought us. They have built up the current value of the business. Even if they were able and wished to take out the money the family put in, it could in no way be described as asset stripping. I do not think they are even able to extract their invested funds, despite the strong bank balance we must have as their investment was converted into share capital which demonstrated it was for the long term. I hope she does not sell the club as I do not think we could get a better owner, but if it is not of interest to her I respect her right to sell. Fortunately she can be seen at all our home games and so may be getting a taste for football.

You are however right that in addition to the surpluses on trading, which will be less than reported due to agents fees, players "loyalty" payments, and payments re sell on clauses, there will also be the not insubstantial TV income from last year, but I suspect that was spent in advance and much of it unwisely. There is of course also the £30m said to have been spent at the training ground. What is certain is that the TV money from this year has not been spent in advance which leaves us financially even better off going forward.

The Squad Is Stronger But Is The Team ?

A well written article and I think I agree entirely. I would add three other "stronger" position:-
(a) we are also stronger in the bank, which may be useful in January, but I suspect that will not be needed and
(b) I believe we are also stronger in the Management position as we now have a manager whose focus is on SAINTS not his own future. As far as the "playing as a team" is concerned, I am prepared to be patient, this is the managers job and many of the team now are the managers chosen people. I saw enough in the second half on Saturday to see this will come.
(c) we are certainly stronger in the training facilities with the £30m project finished. If you are spending £5m - £10m on a typical player then it is wise to develop them with the best facilities. I think here we are not only stronger but the STRONGEST in the PL.

Lambert/Shaw/Lovren & Lallana have left and SAINTS will move on without them as we have done when many other GREATS have left or hung up their boots.

Just wonder who will take the Penalties?

Saints Still Need Another Central Defender

Agree a winger could make a difference.

Why not put a cheeky bid in for Nathan Dyer. A player we know.

Plenty of Premiership Experience, gets a goal every ten games, and would slot back in. We only sold him because we needed money to pay the wages.

A Signing A Signing My Kingdom For A Signing
at 14:58:00

Guys - To quote the cover of the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy. DONT PANIC

These are the good times.

Planning is I trust being done for the long term, not just the Liverpool game.

Always sad to see our favourites leave but that is the way it has always been. Players come and go or stay and eventually hang up their boots. The Club goes on - but only because the Liebherr family stepped in.

We have never been so Financially strong and have a good crop of players, which needs some improving but it is nearly there. There are more academy players looking to break through and how we love to see this happen. Parents of the most talented 8 year olds must be queuing up to have their son get a chance in the Saints academy. They will not be looking at the last couple of months but the last twenty years of a production line as evidence of what their boy can achieve at the right club.

Whatever happens this year Saints have a solid base to move forward and punch above our weight in the Premier league.
