Great move for him and shrewd business by Fergie once again

Still, if Ar$e get £25mill for him - good money. He's at the top of his game now, he's 29 - will he have many more seasons like last year, maybe.

But at a time when someone like Joe Allen costs £15 million its a great deal.

If he stays fit then he'll be there or thereabouts in terms of goals scored as last season. Not a bad front 4 they've got now, better than Citeh's IMO

Oh yeah, compare most clubs dealings to Liverpools and its great business.

So true - when did "a million" become so insignificant? It seems to me that since the GFC everyone nowadays deals in billions.

£20+m & £225k/week is an awfully big gamble. They'll win the league at a canter though.

LFW season preview out of date before we even begin. Man Utd surely favourites for first now.

But which Van Persie will they get? The one who scored all those goals for Arsenal last season, or the one firing blanks at Euro 2012?

They were already favourites without him imo.

Arsenal got the better deal.

£24 million for a player with 1 year left on their contract who has an injury prone history.

They already have 2 replacements in the squad also in Podolski (100 German caps) and Giroud (top goalscorer in France last year). So that's two players plus Cazorla who will have to score the goals. Expect Walcott to play up top too as The Ox emerges.

United now have Rooney, RVP, Chicharito, Welbeck and Berbatov to keep happy. Not an easy task at all

On the other side of a good deal for Arsenal is that United have the potential to challenge on many many fronts

Before last season, his highest PL appearance figure was 28.

He'll get 20 goals next season so long as he stays fit, but he wont replicate last season IMO.

who'll take the penalties looney or persie

bit worried about my fantasy football team now as have both in it and i hate having two strikers from same club as usually only one profits at the others expence

Song off to Barcelona as well, good business for the bank manager of arsenal, poor news for the football team, with Chelsea far better this year I think Arsenal will struggle to make the top 4.

Except for the Champions League. Which I think they'd expect to do a damn site better in this year.

Got to pray that he'll get an injury that'll keep him out for half the season at least. Nothing too serious, just enough to screw United over!

Can't believe that Chicharito and Berbatov are gonna be too happy....

Surely Untd have to ditch one of them..

Because they have gambled £65m on a player with an atrocious injury record.

They wouldve won the league without van Persie IMO.

Seems a lot for a 29 year old with a patchy injury record. He has spent 8 seasons at Arsenal, don't seem to remember him being outstanding in all of those season.

This.

Its alot of money for somebody whose injury record could see him strugglin to play 15-20 games this year, plus he had a year left, that much for a player with 12 months before he can go for nothing is good arsenal business.

Still don't think this makes man u favourites, goals were not really the issue for them it's central midfield and cover for defence they really need, Vidic being out is the reason they uncharacteristically threw away title advantage IMO.

Also what does this mean for Hernandez?

ask Beavis I get nothing Butthead

"Also what does this mean for Hernandez? "

He'll take Berbatov's place, warming the bench for 90% of games and a run out v Wigan at home. Desperately overrated IMO. How many of his Utd goals have come from more than 5 yards out, and how many of those within 5 yards have hit him, rather than hit by him?

How did you come to figure that? Kagawa and Nick Powell are going to take Utd, who failed to win last year, past City?

City winning will give them huge confidence, and having a settled side will I think play to their advantage too. They will know how to handle themselves and play as a unit, much like Utd do when on song. Utd have injury and form concerns with Ferdinand and Vidic, and no strength in depth in centre midfield.

Even with RVP, I would find it hard to make Utd favourites. His signing will make it a bit of a contest though!
