Time to play our own 23:00 - Mar 1 with 8262 views | Ned_Kennedys | After the last couple of results we are clearly destined for the lowest of mid tables so what is the point of playing Edwards and Min-hyeok as they will never sign for us. Drop them and get Morrison and Smyth back in the starting line up as they are ours. I’m assuming Saito will be signed so he should be starting.

Time to play our own on 21:11 - Mar 3 by ozexile | Took the words out of my mouth. We sack off cups to compete in a league which now includes dead rubbers where you don't have to play your best team either. We have the oddest fan base sometimes. How about we just try and win football matches. It's why we exist! I'm fed up of losing continually. |
There aren’t many successful teams out there that didn’t think in decades rather than seasons.

If we are all about short term success then perhaps we should get 6 or 7 Premoer League loan players in the squad and fill half the team with them every week? Thought the general consensus was that we need to develop our own players so we generate a few Eze type sales now and then? Thats not going to happen if we’re developing young players for Tottenham and Southampton on a regular basis.

I remember Tony Fernandes years ago saying it's all about the future when we exited the FA Cup at the 3rd round yet again. And yet her we are 10 or so years later in the lower reaches of the championship. Let's just focus on winning our next game. You do know those players we're wrapping in cotton wool and building up to be the next Cash cow like Eze can walk away for nothing. We're the only ones who are loyal to QPR.

Sorry I was talking specifically about starting loan players instead of our own. I agree the FA Cup thing is a disgrace.

You can do both which is what Marti is doing at the moment We have 2 loan players in our team regularly in Edwards and Saito. Yang is rotating with Smyth who was pretty poor at Pompey the week before so an understandable move. The other 8/9 in the team are all our players If the team had 5 loans in I could understand these complaints a bit more but this all feels a bit mad to me

And we're not technically safe yet. We all know what QPR are like. We're more likely than not to lose the next three games for the same reason we lost on Saturday. Suddenly you're going to Stoke away and the bedwetters switchboard will be fielding calls.

To be honest I’m arguing for the principle rather than our actual circumstances which aren’t too bad, especially compared to years gone by. Specifically though, Yang is blocking Kolli. Apart from shirt sales I don’t see what he brings that Kolli doesn’t. Why can’t Smyth rotate with him? [Post edited 4 Mar 0:49]

Is a Korean player with three games under his belt who we want to save us? Or is a cheesed off Kolli a better fit maybe? | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Time to play our own on 11:33 - Mar 3 by GaryHaddock | ‘But what if NOT playing your best team now is of detriment to us now ?’ I don’t think it is. I think not playing Heung or Edwards is the difference between 11th and 12th. If anything you could argue our form has dropped since we signed them. I don’t blame MC, he’s there to win matches. It’s whoever is bringing them in. |
I don't really understand why so many are so against loan players. We've always had them. People weren't complaining when we brought in Austin and Johansson under Warbs.People also didn't mind having Iroegbonun and Laird under Beale. It's obvious why we're being careful with Morrison. We've made mistakes bringing players back too soon in the past, including Morrison himself this season. As for Smyth he can't play 90 minutes every match. We haven't got another replacement for him and not much pace in the squad. Yang makes sense., even if he didn't have a great game against 2nd in the league. Kolli can't play as said by PP because he's injured. And I can't remember him on the right anyway. Our form has dropped but it's not because of Yang and Edwards. I would say we miss Cook at his best as he's finding his way back; Dunne is not quite at the level of pre- Christmas; Nor is Morgan; Smyth looks a bit jaded, etc, etc. Plus it's the sharp end of the season and teams are fighting for something. When we have our best players firing all together we look good but we're not at the stage of winning against better teams while not playing well. I trust Marti to know what's best for us not just for one or two matches but across the season and even getting ready for next season.

I'd love to know the ins and outs of the Yang deal, the costs and benefits to us, whether Marti did indeed want him, if there's any obligation to play him. I was against it from the start purely, and probably irrationally, because the deal, with no itk knowledge, has a 'feeder club' feel about it, a feeling not eased in anyway by watching him make the naive mistake that led to sheff utds first on Saturday. He's getting up to speed in our time, not in Tottenhams. Having said that, the bigger concern with that goal was Nardi's failure to come off his line, again. His inability to claim crosses/corners is starting to hurt us.

I appreciate I’m going on a bit but I defo don’t blame Edwards or Yang, who are both great players, and I also trust Marti, but loans just aren’t they right avenue IMO outside of emergency situations or with a view to buy for all the reasons I’ve bored everyone with above.

Never any objection to loans that clearly have an intention to buy, like Austin and Johansen. I've always hated big boy loans as it smacks of us being small fry and kowtowing to clubs we used to regularly beat. But I know the Championship has changed and I expect nearly every promoted club has had successful loans recently. I just about got Edwards because of our centre back crisis. I do not enjoy the fact we are improving him now for Soton, or that Morrison is being denied minutes. Yang, unless as a result we get him for the whole of next season or some other Spurs striker starlet, I was against from the second it was mooted. Just the sort of loan I can't stand. Never going to sign. I know we all want to win games with the best possible side, but is it going to cause us to have yet another slow start next year because we've knocked our own players out of contention this?

Yes but my point was not about individual loan players so much as this recent backlash against loan players in general which seems a bit like groupthink as I remember us having loan players for decades without it being such a big deal. It seems a sensible approach in January when you have a thin squad and need to plug gaps. I don't think you could necessarily forecast for example that we'd lose Cook, Morrison and JCS at the same time and Edwards is an excellent stop gap.
Time to play our own on 09:20 - Mar 4 with 400 views | SpongeParr | The loan signings make sense. They plug the gap and they are actually good players. I think that some fans are disapointed (now) thast Morrison and a couple of others aren't getting minutes now that we aren't in the play off hunt. Id love Yang to stay on next year, another year long loan would be a good thing in my mind. He looks to have talent, pace, composure and he has work rate. He isn't coming in as an ego, but hes coming in as someone who needs minutes. He is an upgrade on Smyth, and that's the key thing. Smyth is probably at his peak, and that peak is still a goal contribution every 8 games or something daft. Good impact but Smyth isn't a Championship level winger. Edwards again is very good (though was poor on Sat) but Morrison (assuming fit, he might not be in which case it's a moot point) should be getting game time.

My post was not against loan players generally: whilst we had an injury crisis in central defence Edwards made sense, as did Ashby as he can cover both full back positions. It’s playing loan players instead of our own when we are not going up or down. For those still worried about relegation the bookies are currently offering 200/1 against this happening.

‘Queens Park Rangers youngster Rayan Kolli has been named as the club's most exciting prospect right now, after some impressive recent performances that have seen him become one of Marti Cifuentes' go-to attackers to lead the Hoops away from relegation danger. London-born Kolli is a winger by trade, but has been playing as a centre-forward for the R's in the last few weeks, and has now become a key man for the club despite starting the season largely out-of-favour and not in the first-team squad’ https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/qpr-marti-cifuentes-best-young-player-named-ra
Time to play our own on 11:27 - Mar 4 with 174 views | TK1 | This is a mental thread. My season ticket is for the current season so can I watch the players in the squad now please? We might be dead before 25/26. Play the best players you have at your disposal every week, for every match - form and fitness permitting. That's what managers should always do. Two thirds of the squad are out of contract in three months and nobody here can know whether Steve Cook, Kenny Paal or Michi Frey are any more likely to be QPR players than Koki Saito or Ronnie Edwards in August. Should we just not play any of them? Who's playing left back against Leeds, then? QPR have had some pretty grim March/April results in the past - do we just write these months off with the U23s and hope that we don't really still need two or three wins. (We need two or three wins). AND there are many many many QPR loan players I have enjoyed watching and felt more affection for than most of the QPR signed squad members they played with. Off the top of my head, here's a QPR loanee team, all of whom I enjoyed watching and who were in several cases much loveable than the QPR players they joined. Some only played a few games, some signed at the end of their loan, some saved the team from certain relegation, some helped us to glory... Here, this team would hand our current team its arse: Lee Camp Kyle Walker Danny Shittu Darren Ward Mark Kennedy Stefan Johanson Niko Krancjar Ravel Morrison Lee Cook Adel Taarabt Heidar Helguson Subs Nahki Wells Inigo Idiakez Andros Townsend Michael Mancienne Jerome Thomas Geoff Cameron Jimmy Smith
