Sunderland Memory 14:17 - Nov 2 with 457 viewswelwynranger

Early 70s.
Sunderland came to HQ.
Cant remember the match or the score.
But do remember 2 mad Sunderland fans on Shepherds Bush station attacking people with knitting needles.
A fight ensued then the police came and took them away.
When i enventually got on the train i was talking to a sensible Sunderland fan who asked me .
Did they have their front teeth, because in Sunderland every one who likes a fight hasnt got his front teeth.
Its a badge of honour.

My lasting Sunderland memory is of an evening away fixture 15(?) years ago. Had been raining for weeks, eastern England was flooded and most trains were cancelled, but we found one heading north and off we 'sailed'. The views from the windows were those that I never imagined possible, the only thing above water was the railway embankment, staggering to see how widespread the flood was.
