I will always remember David Pleat when he was co-commentating on a West Ham game when the fans had turned on manager Alan Pardew wanting him sacked. Pleat said “When the fans chant sack the manager, the board don’t worry - but when the fans chant sack the board, they sack the manager!” Very astute observation by Mr. Pleat, so, if you want the board to act, David Pleat would advise you to cut out the middle man and go straight to the top with a sack the board banner. 🙂

The other clubs are desperately trying to remain competitive in a sh!t league so also put the prices up. And even clubs like Saints, know that tourists will buy up the tickets for the big games if Saints fans don't. The top 6 know that tourists will pay £80 for a ticket, so of course they charge it.

Thirded (if that’s word). Just have a look at this. https://www.liverpoolfchospitality.com/en/ecommerce/buy-packages/?utm_source=fac This is a million miles from the game that I got into as a kid. I would have nothing in common with anyone who could possibly afford one of these tickets. 1400 for one ticket for the Man U game, 850 for Leicester FFS.

How come we're only worthy of the "cheap seats" at £850!!! (with due respect to Lille at £450)

Spot on ST, agree 100% - back in the day when Souness was still playing for Liverpool I was the Chairman at Millwall Lionesses and we took 16 young players & 4 parents up to see a game at Anfield as Liverpool were the No.1 team and still winning Div 1 titles. I wrote to the Club Secretary, the legendary Peter Robinson to see if it was possible. Although I didn’t even ask for comps, the Club provided 21 complimentary tickets in the front row of the Anfield Road end and said if we could be up there by 12.30 we could have a one hour tour behind the scenes. We finished up in the trophy room, they got out the (now old) Div 1 champions trophy, the League Cup, the Charity Shield and one of their replica European Cups so the players could have their photos taken with the trophies. Souness and several other players came in and did autographs and pics. One of those young players so inspired by the day went on to manage the England women’s team - Hope Powell. Oh yes, and the opponents were Spurs so those match tickets would have sold twice over. Can you imagine that happening today? Absolutely zero chance - you wouldn’t even get a reply if you asked…. As for Founders Lounge tickets, I did have a look through, £1600 for City & Arsenal plus Real Madrid, I don’t know, do the people that used to go to polo, the royal ballet and operas at Covent Garden now go to football? As you rightly say, we have nothing in common with people who pay as much for one match ticket as we do for two season tickets…
