Chairman notes [Preston] - transfer latest 19:16 - Aug 16 with 4049 views | QJumpingJack | From AC: There were lively performances from our new recruits, who have made a positive impression since their respective arrivals, and we know we will need to make further quality additions to our squad before the transfer window closes at the end of this month. Our recruitment work is constantly ongoing, and our efforts in this window are far from finished as we aim to improve and strengthen Luke’s squad.

Chairman notes [Preston] - transfer lates on 11:43 - Aug 17 by GVJack | I thought last January's window was ok. We brought Ronald in after all. With regards to who we've signed this window I'm chuffed. I think all 4 signings have been made to come straight into the starting XI not "squad players". 2 or 3 more and we've pretty much overhauled our best 11 team in the space of the last 3 windows (which is needed). Yes we're thin on the ground, but I think we have better quality starting this season than we ended last. 3/4 more in and we'll have added that depth also. |
Tend to agree but the question I posed was why Res was so sure we’d sign these extra players. He maybe right but previous transfer windows have been generally disappointing and we are a downward trend not an upward one. I can only see some loans brought in for cover and nothing else before the window closes. We won’t see any first team starters I’m pretty sure. Please prove me wrong!

He will come back with a loan signing is a signing. Even though he continually states that we should not be signing loans but buying and developing our own players.

There's nothing wrong with loan signings (within reason) all clubs do it even those in the top half of the prem/champions league. If there's a player there with incredible potential, good ability or experience that will strengthen your position why wouldn't you consider it? How would we have faired last season without Rushworth joining us? I don't want to see 3-4 loans in to just have players sat on the bench eating up wages. But if there's a quality loan or two to be had that suites all three parties, (Swans, player and donor club) then let's get them in and get cracking. Some loans to tend to also benefit us in the long run also... Leon Britton is a prime example.

No problems mate. IMO loans are an important part of football as long ad they in areas we need and not holding back our own players development. I wouldn't mind a young centre half as cover along with an AM and forward, although I would like to see Josh Thomas given a chance this season. Over the years we have had some fantastic loans and some real poor ones, it seems a bit like pot luck.

The club has turned a corner and taken a new approach. The US people left it to the locals and after a 7 year apprenticeship deal they can do better themselves with their own money. They are probably correct.

in the last 7 years - the two most successful seasons were 2019/20 + 2020/21 - where we reached two play-offs thanks to the guidance of Trevor Birch and Steve Cooper. There was some stability at the club. When they both left we have just drifted and have never been competitive with the serious promotion contenders.

I have said they have turned a corner and are now doing things differently. Posters on here work on precedent and moaning . "It was like this for 7 years so expect nothing different". Closed mind thinking which is what I would expect from the old clique of posters. So what has changed? a) Cash investment £20m+. What for? Too stand still ? What is the point of that ? b) US people with ambition now reside in Swansea (unheard of previously) c) A beefed up recruitment team. d) Purchasing (not loaning) promising young hungry players in the 21-23 age bracket. e) Th recruitment seems to have a global reach beyond Falkirk Middlesbrough Exeter and Bristol City. Recent signings have come from Slovenia, Brasil, South Korea and Burnley. Did you not notice.? f) Moving fast when Bordeaux went bust. Impressive stuff. Management driven. g) Williams was talking today about wingers Routledge and Dyer and the value of pace. Martin talked about it but did not use. h) The ownership talks face to face with the fans. I do not like to see them apologising to idiots among the fan base. e.g. Complaints of Watson sitting with Jones at one game. What a load of nonsense. US people doing well does not sit kindly with Yank basher losers. Closed south Wales coalfield minds. The Trusts symbolises this hopeless passive mindset. They won the lottery but losers have to be losers so they did not accept the pay day. No one dares criticize the people that did not cash in. Why? Wrexham fans on the other hand have been dazzled by Reynolds and the Yank. [Post edited 17 Aug 22:52]

b) Chris Pearlman lived in Swansea for a bit. c) name the beefed up team please g) Martin is now currently and EPL manager. Did you not notice? h) do you know that Jones only once sat next to Watson at away games. Or was it on more than one occasion? If it wasn't for the Trust - there would be no club. If you supported the club in the early 2000s - you will be aware of their crucial role in keeping the club alive.

a) New investment not disputed. b) Pearlman was an commercial man an administrator while the club was in the premier league. He left after relegation. He did not make football decisions like Coleman does. c) It was quoted that six new scout were appointed under Watson. Do not be lazy do your own research. Are you disputing this? g) Martin inherited a Premier league team with parachutes. Coopers and Martins football at Swansea was often dull as dishwater. Many fans have been calling for a return t wingers for some time. h) I do not care how many time Watson sat with Jones. He should not have apologized for this. The Trust are bucket carriers. They appear to have no finacial acumen. They have put in £200k to the club and taken out £600k in dividends and another £500k from the other owners. Net loss to the club of £900k. They biggest ever investment was in English legal and insurance companies not the club or grass roots football. They do not appear know what to do with this money. The members are asleep. Their ultimate 5% ownership is no good to the club in my opinion. The club would be better off without them.

Apologies. b) Silverstein was based in Swansea for a couple of weeks around Christmas 2022. What is he up to these days with the club? c) I forgot Martin Hodge came in as a scout under Duff from Burnley. I don't think the club ever confirmed this and I have no idea if he is still working for the club. Perhaps you can clarify. I was reading an article elsewhere. Coleman said "judge me by my actions". Season ticket sales are down and have fans had enough? I want the Swans to do well but it starts at the top. The owners have to deliver after 8 years.

Let's be clear about the title and role of the new batch of scouts and not try and mislead posters and try to give a false impression. They are not scouts who go out and scour for talent, they are given a list of targets and build up a dossier for management to analyse. https://jobs4football.com/job/video-scout-9/#:~:text=Job%20Description&text=

The recent recruitment has, it appears, been pretty good. It is not a coincidence. Players from far flung places Swansea never went before. Let's hope it continues. 3 or 4 promising players and that would be cause for optimism. Scouting to be effective needs ground work and preparation. Signing of Vipotnik for example was a very tidy job. If fans want to focus on gossip and nonsense that is up to theme e g who Watson sits next to at games. Frankly pathetic.
